This morning I stumbled upon the website Military.com while doing an unrelated search. As far as I know, I’ve never been to the site before, but I had to do a double-take when I saw it.
Take a look at the partial screenshot of their home page below (from Oct 26, 2006), and see if you notice anything unusual about it.
Take your time…
Just in case you’re a little slow, the headline of the article is “Four Marines, One Sailor Killed.” Meanwhile the tagline below the site’s logo is “All the Benefits of Service.”
I can just imagine this conversation in the military recruiter’s office:
New Recruit: So what kind of benefits can you offer me?
New Recruit: Death is a benefit?
Recruiter: It is once you’ve spent a year in Iraq.
Methinks the military has become a little too woo-woo for my tastes.
