I think Ron Paul has some good ideas, and he is right about the war in Iraq and 911. However, I think he is a little too radical. He is wasting his time running as a republican. He has the message of a libertarian. He is very popular with young people and Internet folk, but I don't think he has the mass market appeal that he needs. Also, I think we need publicly-funded health care like the other industrialized nations. Free markets are excellent most of the time, but I think there are instances where they do not work for the highest social good. I do think that Ron Paul would be better than this last guy we had. I'm still scratching my head about how he got into office...

I think lot of people either don't know much about Ron Paul except recent hype or do know and agree with that. I don't know which is worse. Ron Paul has been politically active for decades, and has published his own political newsletters under "Ron Paul's Freedom Report", "Ron Paul Political Report", "The Ron Paul Survival Report", etc. -- since 1978. James Kirchick of the New Republic has recently unearthed many issues of Paul's newsletters via excursions to the University of Kansas and the Wisconsin Historical Society. So without further due here are Ron Paul's greatest hits: Opinion polls consistently show only about 5% of blacks have sensible political opinions... Here is good link for you guys to read: http://www.tnr.com/politics/story.ht...5-4532a7da84ca Enjoy. Last edited by tekomino; 01-25-2008 at 08:50 PM. |

Amen, tekomino. It's pretty depressing to see so many people on this excellent forum have fallen for the Paul propaganda. (I knew a World Affairs forum was a bad idea...! If you are comfortable supporting a man who has given his explicit and repeated endorsement to overt racism and homophobia, it's probably not a lot of use me trying to argue with you. If you were unaware of his endorsement of overt racism and homophobia, please think hard before you sign up to his bandwagon. |

I know a lot of people are finally glad to see they have one minor point to attack Ron Paul because there's been nothing to attack him before. Yet, those people ignore what Ron Paul truly stands for. On the other hand, those same people support their own candidate because they look shiny and make em feel good, while ignoring how destructive their candidate's policy is to the country. | |

Hell, I'm not looking for perfection, just looking for the best man to lead our country, and Ron Paul is miles ahead of the rest. Go Ron Paul!! (I got his sign in my yard!)

I have been a big fan of Ron Paul for the past few months because he speaks like a Constitutional scholar and he is very fiscally responsible. Then I saw a clip of him at a rally where he said something that was very pro-life and it scared me a little. What I can't forgive, however, is the whole thing that TNR dug up. The Ron Paul that I have seen so far does not seem like the kind of individual that would write those things. However, even if Ron Paul had nothing to do with it, how could he allow someone to publish things like that under his name for decades? Even if you buy the argument that he had no idea who printed those things, how could it go unnoticed for that long? How can he not dig deep and find out who the real writer was? It just does not seem very responsible.. so how do I know this guy will be responsible enough to be President? Curious to hear your thoughts. |

@Alexander, He will not be president, he does not have a chance... But, I do not buy argument that he did not know or that he did not support what was written in those letters. It is just not possible. Think about it for a minute. What is interesting to me is how many people support him based on what they been told, without really knowing where he stands and what he supported in past. This is typical marketing campaign where people are fed something they want to hear and they blindly believe it. This is true for every single candidate in campaign. It is all marketing. Message is positioned and delivered so to get the best response rate regardless of what the candidates actually really stands for. It is not different from all advertisement you see on TV and elsewhere. Worse yet is when they find out, people choose to ignore all things written by or under his name in the letters that were continuously published for over a decade... Sure, racial hate is alive and well in America... It is disgusting... I doubt that he can get a single vote from non-white, non-christian demographic... |

I agree that the news doesn't give him the attention he deserves. But I think its VITAL to success that everyone who supports him remains optimistic, and does everything they can to help him win. And even if he doesn't win, just look at all the people his campaign has brought together. Ron Paul running for president will have a positive impact no matter what the outcome.
