Default Anger At Foolishness & Ignorance

Partially a vent but...

This story: Afghanistan: Imprisoned Rape Victim Freed

Upsets me. And to think that the President of her country actually feels he has the right and power to pardon her? Are you kidding me? Disappointed. And now she has to marry him? Another key aspect ticks me off. The idea that fundamentalism and flat perceptions would be used as justification. Heart breaking.

How many centuries will it take before we evolve? At what point will we as a people grow up and wake up. Oh my family...

Well yes, these kind of messages remind us that humanity is in very many respects a monkey tribe. Which evolutionary makes lots of sense, really.... If anyone wanted a proof of the theory of evolution. It is right here. We need to live with the knowledge that we are monkeys with an add-on capacity of doing a bit of reasoning sometimes..... And as soon as we are in even the smallest amount of distress the monkey takes over.

Hopefully we'll get past all the superficial bs and see our own oneness and equality sooner than later. *smh*

I was upset that they even think she's suppose to marry him, that she was ever in jail in the first place and that the President even thinks he had the right to "pardon" her when she did nothing wrong in the first place.

Would you prefer it if the president didn't pardon her but just ignored the affair?

That's a good point Brutha and I thought about that. I'm upset that it even got to that point in the first place. Yes, $hyt happens. But the fact that she was even put in jail in the first place upsets me. I understand that he'd have to pardon her in order for her to get out but the idea that people actually believed it was good and right for her to be there is upsetting.

Add: and I put myself in the situation. If I had been raped and told and they through me in jail, I'm giving birth to this man's child. it's just putting her in a situation where they're almost imposing on her burden of guilt that she has no right to feel. That woman needs love and vindication at this point, not prison and the conditional pardon of "I'll pardon you if you marry your perpetrator."

I'm an outsider looking in. I'm not deeply familiar with the culture there. But I do feel for her. And my heart goes out to her. It's like you do the right thing and your world puts you back in the hell you tried to climb out of by doing the liberating thing of telling the truth.

So the System produces another unwanted child, whose parents resent it...and according to the culture, this is good?

So is marriage in that country defined by the conquest of rape? While it's a step up from conking women on the head with a club and dragging them to The Cave, it's a very small step.
