While it's somewhat unrelated, with the US having passed the NDAA which allows the military to detain US citizens within the homeland without a warrant or a trial I wouldn't put anything past them at this point. It doesn't matter whether there's anything on Wikileaks that breaks copyright, if all it takes is an accusation to get it brought down then rest assured it will happen. The next vote on SOPA is tomorrow (December 21st) so make sure you bombard them with phone calls while the proceedings are in progress. They pulled a fast one on us; talks were supposed to be delayed until the new year but they bumped it up to this week. Do NOT let them get away with it, America. |

Looks like the vote will be put off till January. I have to say that after thinking about what Brutha said I am against the SOPA bill. I do think we need something to assist with copyright in this country and that there is not laws on the books that facilitate this currently. That said copy right infringement is so why spread that by not more narrowly defining what types of things they are going after the potential to making things overly litigious seems to apparent.

I hope they don't pass this, but you know the government doesn't like that thing called freedom very much. Anyways if they do, and you have firefox you can use a firefox add-on called DeSOPA. The SOPA bill will only block domain names, but not IP addresses. DeSOPA automatically redirects you to the IP address when you enter the URL. If enough people know this then it wouldn't take long to beat this anti freedom bill. How to Sidestep this SOPA Nonsense Entirely |
