Are you trying to say that black men are all poor? If anything, I see more white homeless people then black. Rarely do I see a black homeless guy on the street.

They go to prison, they already know a lot of their inmates who are in there already. They're friends with them, they're in gangs. Hell, if you're not in a gang and you end up in prison. You ass is fried, because there is nobody to protect you when things go down.

Wow, really? I guess stereotypes will never change. I think you watch too much of the wire and rap videos. Most black males do not go to prison, not even in America.

10% of the total population of America is black, yet 40% of the jail population is black. 5-10% of the entire black population is in jail. That's 1 in 10. That's over 5 times the percent of whites. There are more blacks in jail then in college.

Yes, it does say something about black men but it also says something about America.... Who incidentally incarcerates more of it's population than any country on the planet..... A country that incarcerates it's youth for profit...hmm

That's certainly part of the puzzle. There are however many more highly discouraging pieces to put together. One of which was clearly seen as I worked in a locked facility for juveniles and young adults. Almost all the young black males who arrived and later were taken by the sheriff to go to court were thoroughly pleased about the situation and scoffed at the prospect of going to prison. It seemed a win win to them as going to prison meant a notch on their belt. A status symbol they could show off when they got out. On the other hand, a good portion of the young white males stated they were petrified of the prospect of going to prison and some even stated they would kill themselves if it came down to it.

You might think that from watching TV. When things go down? Really? Do you even know how often things go down in a REAL prison? Hardly never- prisons have adjusted to control such things.

I seen the one study years ago black youth has a better chance of being shot than graduating from college but I thing that was for certain cities of the US and the national average but it still very sad.

I know its possible that I could get shot but that dose not even ever enters my mind but I live in Canada and there dose seem to be more shootings than there where years ago.

Not to mention I think there is a much much bigger chance of white people calling the police when they see a black person doing something where as if it was a white person would get away with it.

Umm? Why? You shouldn't just make things up like that. If I see a black person doing something wrong, I'll call the cops. If I see a white person doing something wrong, I'd do the same thing.

Most people would say what you say but in reality act differently, I'm not making things up you can check out any social experiment or conduct one yourself and see this is more to do with racism than anything else.

Some people posting here are saying the whole thing reflects a lot about America. What I have never been able to figure out is how different is this situation in the ghettos from the situation among young black men in Rhodesia, or South Africa, or Congo?

Violence and all that. Seems like a way to prove that you are hardass.

Ganging up. Sort of a phase the young guys often go thru.

There are exceptions. Some of the young men are exceptions. Hell, America now has an African American for a president! So I am not saying its got to be like that for all black guys.
