Evidence around the globe shows that the current system is at the brink of a grand collapse in a few areas. We have the unprecedented excellerated depletion of a vital resource in which all the worlds economies are built upon: oil We have the rising national debts which will soon become un-payable. We have an economy that requires constant growth... on a finite planet with limited resources and space. We have technological unemployment finally reaching the service section (the last sector absorbing the majority of our jobs) We have the destruction of the earths environment and eco-systems. and to top it off, our extremely fast growing population size. The WWF says we will need a new planet by 2030 Wanted: another planet Earth by 2030 | Climate Shifts On top of all of this we live in a world that does not meet the basic needs of a large majority of the planet. We have people dying every 5 seconds from starvation. Tons of unhappiness, growing depression and mental illnesses in first world countries. As large as ever abuse, crime, deprivation. And crazy extents of un-equality and deprivation. "Poverty is the worst kind of violence" - Ghandi Based on these issues (an many more) we at the zeitgeist movement propose the transition into a resource based economy. An economy where we get down to the lifeground of what human beings need to survive and flourish. Where we recognize that the intelligent management of the earths resources are necessary for our survival. Where we build a society based on sustainability rather than growth. You can see an introduction to the problems with the world in the movie Zeitgeist Addendum here: and a continuation in Zeitgeist Moving forward here: or a quick introduction to the ideas of a RBE in Peter Josephs TED talk here: In this thread I will discuss the many objections that come up against a RBE and also answer any questions. I only ask that you do not make baseless accusations, or call names, or make irrational leaps in logic, but instead tell me what you think and why in a professional manner and I will try my best to do the same. Also please take the time to at least watch the above 3 videos to get educated on the ideas of the movement... if you say things such as 'its human nature, humans can just never work together they are selfish' then you obviously haven't watched the movies and seen all of the scientists and doctors talk about how this is a common misconception and the truth of the matter. Thanks, and let's discuss |
