I don't know! Fox is "confriming" the death of some dude named Osama Bin "Landen", but I'm not sure who he is! Okay, all jabs at Fox aside...is it in bad taste to be pleased at the knowledge that a fellow human being is dead? Or is it okay to whip out the bubbly? |

That is one man down for the count. Now for the 5 gazillion left. Seriously I find it deplorable that some people rejoice in someone's death. It is a travesty whenever a death happens, regardless of their past actions. People are too obsessed with good vs evil... That speaks more of them than anything. |

10 years and we finally ice his ass. My last tour of duty was spent TDY with the DOHS in the early stages of its creation. To those who don't think he was a powerful leadership force in multiple terrorist communities; you are entitled to your beliefs and illusions and all the cynical and snide comments you can copy and paste. I was present in NYC during 9-11 and I was there to help in the beginning of the DOHS and I worked cooperative operations with other branches of the government. I will make a statement of Fact that Bin Laden was a monster from way back and yes he had it coming. Of course the corruption that came with Patriot Act was a partial factor in my decision to retire. You want to hear some stories of serious constitutionally bad JU-JU that went on in the first year and half after 9-11? scary stuff.

I guess I don't feel particularly pleased, but I'm definitely not sad. Last edited by Criseyde; 05-02-2011 at 04:13 AM.

Steve is pretty intuitive! He strikes me as someone who just knows things. Living with Erin it would have rubbed off on him. Also, in their possession, the US government are privy and are capable of the services of many types of people. Perhaps people of war or people of significant use like Remote Viewers. No one can say these people haven't been utilised to the full extent, and i have a feeling they've known where he's been for a long time. Only now they decide to act. What is the motive? Besides, they it's only a puppet. The puppeteer/s are yet to be found. |

I am not afraid to say that I am glad that he is dead. I used to be against the dead penalty, and I still am in the way it is shown to be used in the US (in movies, not sure how real that is?). I am not for people like Osama bin Laden. He caused a lot of peoples death. He is full of hate. I don't hate him, I don't feel strongly happy about the person he is being dead. I do feel glad about what he represents being dead. |

So what is all I have to ask? Killing one man isn't going to change the situation in the Middle East. Nor will it decrease terrorist attacks. I suppose some people will derive value via revenge. I personally like to see an actual difference in the world that will contribute to stability and peace. One man doesn't cause all that hatred and death. State intervention and structural marginalization do. If he is actually dead, someone else will simply replace him. And this will continue until we actually address the reasons why some people in the Middle East resort to hatred and violence. An eye for an eye never made a difference.

Edit: Well at least now Fox News should lose any and all shreds of credibility it had remaining. Last edited by KaleidoskopicVision; 05-02-2011 at 06:06 AM.

I don't know if anyone's posted this yet, so here's P. Obama's speech to confirm Osama's death and explain the actions that were taken. Osama bin Laden dead: Al Qaida leader killed in CIA-led attack - latimes.com |

I'm not being a jerk by telling you to do your own research either. You had a short but hardly simple request so I gave you a short and simple reply because I don't feel up to pulling out all the stops right now.

| I actually wonder the same thing. I felt really ambivalent as I read about people cheering and being all nationalistic about his death. There's something... wrong about it. Can't put my finger on it. I can't say we shouldn't be pleased, but I also kinda feel like we shouldn't.
