I have been invited to a Royal Wedding party that starts at 5:00am EST at my local English pub. Women are encouraged to wear hats and fancy dress; while men are encouraged to be smartly dressed; as if they were attending a wedding. About 150 of us will watch the wedding live from the pub, while having a traditional english breakfast. What are you plans for the wedding? Will you watch it live? watch it another time? or what wedding? What do you think of the hype surrounding this? |

Pardon me but, I don't mind anything about English Royal or English Royal Wedding. They are just people like us, others, we are all the same, equal. none of us is superior, We are all the same,They willl live and die like us. but, English Royal is trying to reflect themselves as superior, high class ,first class people, so in that case, we, others become second and third class people. And Media is trying to same., I find all the things regarding to English Royal Wedding, English Royal, nonsense, useless, say to me ; What are those sounds and furies for months regarding to this Wedding ? What are those Medias trying to tell us. Will English Royal Weeding solve any problem of our Word, people ? wars, hunger, global Warming, tsunami,,,, Are they superior and We as others inferior ? Pardon me, I am not foolish. Last edited by relaXman; 04-28-2011 at 03:10 PM. |

Totally bored by the blanket coverage and I don't even live in England. New Zealand needs to become a republic already and then we can all happily ignore this outrageously overpriced side-show. Thank Christ my taxpayer dollars don't have to go to support it. I mean, it's nice they're getting married and all, just like tens of thousands of people do every day, but with economic costs estimated to range anywhere from 100 million pounds (raw costs of actually holding the wedding) to 5 billion pounds (lost productivity, etc), it seems extremely expensive for what essentially amounts to 24 hours of public feel-good factor. |

I'm personally of the opinion that they should cancel the monarchy, everywhere. That said... Yes, I'm planning to watch |

I grew up in a constitutional monarchy (Belgium) so I have nothing against monarchy. "My" royal family never puts on superior airs, they even approve of the cynical skits about them by one of our best comedians. I have nothing against English monarchy though I do reckon Australia could do well as its own nation. Anyway...my answer is, I might watch the highlights if my TV happens to be turned on when there are some. |

I only found out about it two days ago. I was like "what wedding?" I honestly couldn't care less, and I find it strange that so many people get involved in the 'special day' of people they don't even know. I feel sorry for them...they are public property, and always will be. I don't watch t.v, so I won't be watching, and I'm not even the slightest bit curious either. I will no doubt hear about it for weeks after from people around me, and see images on magazine covers etc. That's enough for me. |

Y'know, that English pub party sounds kind of cool. If I were running an English pub right here in Wisconsin, I would totally have a party to celebrate the royal wedding. It would be like a costume party. Nevertheless, I'm not going to watch the royal wedding as it happens, but I'm sure I'll watch some coverage of it later on. I have wondered how the prince's fiancee' feels about having him give her Diana's engagement ring. That would be a bit weird to me. |

| ok, ok.... only those that don't use other people's money, without working for it, to exist are allowed to continue on... Better? Edit: or we just give them the same allowance other people that are unemployed get |

Well I won't because my dog would rather go for a walk in the spring sunshine..... So would I. I might watch highlights later. I agree that the costs (funded by British people) are pretty unwarranted considering people work hard to feed their families and pay their mortgages and many of them, even working longer hours, still can't make ends meet. I don't hate the monarchy or want them to go (still have a horror of what happened to the Romanovs) but why the heck they can't pay their own bills....?? I have the same problem being oblivious to popular culture. It can make small talk problematic at times. When people express surprise or uneasiness over my lack of awareness, I think they are really saying 'I am having problems relating to you', which is perfectly fine with me. There is no rule out there saying that we have to be able to relate with everyone.

Prince William's refusal to wear a wedding band is an important part of the ritual, as is the sapphire ring Princess Diana wore that will be Kate's wedding ring. The wedding takes place on the eve of Walpurgisnacht. I smell a blood sacrifice. |

I didn't plan on watching it since I don't have my tv hooked up since I don't care for tv. I also don't care for weddings. However, I just found out it will be streamed live on hulu.com...and I'm a fan of royalty, so I may just watch it! I hope they will be wearing a lot of fanciful regal costumes. If they are all dressed in a western modern style, I'll get bored with it. |

It's true, we don't all have to relate, and I am well used to the looks b y now, so it doesn't really faze me. I like to think they secretly wish they weren't so hooked on pop culture like me...but that's probably not the truth of it.

So I just turned in time to see them exchange ring and be proclaimed man and wife. But there is no kiss??? They immediately go to the side to sing some stuff. (What's up with that? Your first action as man and wife is to sing some religious song?) I wanted to see actions! Are the British prudes and don't kiss after being proclaimed man and wife? Or is it that British Royalty do not do this publicly? I do like William's uniform, but especially the Archbishop's uniform. |

They will probably kiss on the balcony. We usually kiss after being proclaimed here but I assume it is different for the Royal Family. In England it has been near impossible to escape the wedding, whether it is in the papers, on the tv, in the news, in stores in the form of merchandise or just people talking about it. |

It is tradition to have the first kiss on the balcony right after the ceremony. I LOVE her dress. The sisters dress as well. I just don't want to kknow how many weeks she had to stop eating to fit in it though.. |
