In recent days, as the threat of leaking radiation from the damaged Fukushima nuclear plant escalates, I’ve noticed how the news channels are running hard and heavy with stories about how Americans are starting to panic and how there is really no reason to panic. This causes me to wonder… should I be panicking?

Yeah, I don't think panic is going to help the situation, but it's a very human response. Try it, and see if it works for you.

It helped me get a better understanding of radiation and proportions (flying, x-rays, sleeping next to someone, Fukushima, spending an hour at the Chernobyl site in 2010...).

And I learned from it that I will definitely never eat 2-8 million bananas in one serving (because that would be the lethal dose of radiation linked to potassium intake).

I was terribly disappointed when I was told there wasn't any meaningful radiation in the water off Seattle. I was hoping to become Spiderman.
