Default Request by Japanese friend to US citizens

This is by Yumi, a woman who has for years been pointing out the risk of building and operating nuclear power stations over earthquake fault lines (see her blog entry of Feb 28).

She says they have had 200 earthquakes since the 1st one as big or bigger than magnitude 5 in one week (I wasn't aware of THAT), and would love support in the form of asking senators and congressman to request the Japanese government to stop the Hamaoka and Tokai nuclear power plants now before the next big earthquake happens.

The reason why she makes this request of Americans is her experience is that her government tends to listen more to the American President than to the Japanese people.

Dear friends,

Will you spread this ?
Petition: HELP JAPAN Shut down Hamaoka and Tokai nuclear power plants | Change.org

after reading my English blog:
Yumi Kikuchi’s Blog and Podcast

Thanks, and big hug!

Yumi

The quake has not Damaged a single part if the nuclear plant. Its a testament To how well built they actually are. It's nothing but another system that went offline. The plants do not have to be shut down ( what do you plan on replacing the lost power with exactly? Seriously, I'd love to hear any idea, as so far, I'll have seen is "I don't give a ****, shut all nuke plants down now or we'll all die!!! $@@"&@@$) . What needs to be done, now that we know what can go wrong, is fixing the system that went down, so that it can never happen again.

In general we don't have to shut down all nuclear plants. Shutting down those plants who are build on earthquake fault lines might however still be a good idea.
