Exclamation Major California Quake March 19-26th Geologist Predicts

Earthquake forcaster Jim Berkland warns of a 'high risk' seismic window and potential for a massive quake poised to strike somewhere in North America in between the dates of March 19th and 26th.

Berkland points to the recent mass fish die-off at King Harbor near Redondo Beach as a harbinger of a potential catastrophic quake in the near future.

I wish I could say this was just hysteria, but he's a former USGS geologist, not a screaming kook, and the shifting Pacific plate has recently triggered major quakes in Chile, New Zealand, and Japan.

So, all I can say is: "I hope he's wrong."

Wow, I hate to give any credibility to anything on fox news, but I will definitely be watching (for an earth quake, not fox news.)

Oh, damn. Is this the big one? Finally, after all these years of waiting? Maybe I should fly down to visit.

After checking out the USGS site for real-time stats lately, I can safely predict that there will about a dozen earthquakes in CA of 1.0 or greater tomorrow!

I miss the quake in LA last year (the 6.5er or in that arena) by approxmately 1 hour last year. I was landing in Chicago O'Hare Airport and I got a text from my Lady friend in Cali that they had just had an earthquake.

A part of me was like WHEW! Because I would've freaked out if I had been there during a quake.

But another part of me kinda wishes I could've experienced just one earthquake in my life and what that is like.

I err on the side of "Thank frikin God I wasn't there" though.

Well, I'm a native Californian, so earthquakes have a pretty normal feel to me. I've been in a few bad ones, though the worst thing that ever happened to me was a lit candle falling onto my forehead.

It's not all that different from being in the ocean. Except that you're on land. (Okay, so it isn't actually any different in terms of the physics.) But my friends and I used to get all excited and would check USGS for an earthquake report.

That's why they're always preaching, "Don't take shelter under a lit candle."
