A big solar flare is supposed to be producing a good aurora borealis tonight. Earth 'in the crosshairs' of a solar explosion - Technology & science - Space - Space.com - msnbc.com Just wondering if any of you that live in Northern latitudes (Mounds, NDN etc.) are getting a show tonight? |

I haven't seen anything but today all my electronics went nuts for a couple seconds. The TV shut on and off and my computer monitor was making big wavy motions across the screen. This was before I had even heard about the solar flare.

This is something I've always wanted to see, though given I'm located at the other end of the earth, I'll be looking for the Aurora Australis, or Southern Lights. I live too far north in New Zealand to see them, but apparently Lake Tekapo in the South Island, in October, is the best time to see them.
