I just read from wikileaks that the us Gov got access to all the personal information of all 600,000+ wikileaks twitter followers? Is this correct? I followed them on twitter I am really scared? Why would they do that? Why? Why? WHY??????? Is anyone else here following them on twitter? What has wikileaks done wrong? Why is there no clear explanation of what they have done wrong? Am I just paranoid or is there fear and intimidation? Aggressiveness? Torture? Why? What is all the fear about? I feel so scared Why does Jullian Assange win Human Rights awards etc yet U.S thinks of him as a terrorist??? Why is there such a contradicting devide? Is wikileaks causing Danger? Or is it cause a government wants to hide something and using fear/propaganda and then people turn against wikileaks only cause of fear? Is it right for me to feel disturbed at this invasion of privacy of the us gov ordering to get the private information of all wikileaks followers on twitter?????? This all just disturbs and worries me so much, all of it. |

They however don't want to fully expose the extend of their surveillance ability in public and therefore seek to get the information through a more proper channel. Information that travels unencrypted through the US, Canada, the UK, Australia and New Zealand or another country that part of the UKUSA agreement should be assumed to be stored permanently in a US government database. I think the point of this request for information in probably to argue that all IP addresses that both followed Wikileaks and that took part in DDoS attacks in Operation Payback did take part in the attacks with the knowledge of the owner of the computer instead of being part of involuntary botnets. If such information requests are problematic for you than the best you could do is partition the elected officials in your country to stop sharing private data with the US. If the UKUSA alliance breaks over this affair that would be a huge success.

I would sincerely doubt that the US actually asked for all Wikileaks twitter followers. I think this is more of a paranoia publicity stunt to destroy US credibility, just like the paranoia of Assange thinking the US is coming for him. Hasn't happened yet, has it?

The court document says that it requests: 1) records of user activity for any connections made to or from the Account including the date, time, length, and method of connections, data transfer volume, user name and source and destination Internet Protocol addresses. They are asking for the user names of people who read messages of the Wikileaks account and also want IP addresses.
