Default Freedom Quotes

These are some pretty inspirational quotes to share - enjoy, and discuss if you'd like They make me wonder how some of the leaders of our past would handle the challenges of today.

FRANKLIN DELANO ROOSEVELT:

The only sure bulwark of continuing liberty is a government strong enough to protect the interests of the people, and a people strong enough and well enough informed to maintain its sovereign control over the government.

FREDERICK DOUGLASS:
Those who profess to favor freedom and yet depreciate agitation, are people who want crops without ploughing the ground; they want rain without thunder and lightning; they want the ocean without the roar of its many waters. The struggle may be a moral one, or it may be a physical one, or it may be both. But it must be a struggle. Power concedes nothing without a demand; it never has and it never will.

GEORGE WASHINGTON
If the freedom of speech is taken away then dumb and silent we may be led, like sheep to the slaughter.

JOHN F. KENNEDY:
We are not afraid to entrust the American people with unpleasant facts, foreign ideas, alien philosophies, and competitive values. For a nation that is afraid to let its people judge the truth and falsehood in an open market is a nation that is afraid of its people.

ABRAHAM LINCOLN:
America will never be destroyed from the outside. If we falter and lose our freedoms, it will be because we destroyed ourselves.

JOHN F. KENNEDY:
The wave of the future is not the conquest of the world by a single dogmatic creed but the liberation of the diverse energies of free nations and free men.

MOHANDAS K. GANDHI:
Freedom is not worth having if it does not connote freedom to err.

NOAM CHOMSKY:
If we do not believe in freedom of speech for those we despise we do not believe in it at all.

ABRAHAM LINCOLN:
Don't interfere with anything in the Constitution. That must be maintained, for it is the only safeguard of our liberties.

SAMUEL ADAMS:
If ye love wealth greater than liberty, the tranquility of servitude greater than the animating contest for freedom, go home from us in peace. We seek not your counsel, nor your arms. Crouch down and lick the hand that feeds you; and may posterity forget that ye were our countrymen.

GEORGE WASHINGTON:
Firearms are second only to the Constitution in importance; they are the peoples' liberty's teeth.

THOMAS JEFFERSON:
A wise and frugal government, which shall leave men free to regulate their own pursuits of industry and improvement, and shall not take from the mouth of labor and bread it has earned -- this is the sum of good government.

ABRAHAM LINCOLN:
I am a firm believer in the people. If given the truth, they can be depended upon to meet any national crisis. The great point is to bring them the real facts.

WILLIAM O. DOUGLAS:
Restriction of free thought and free speech is the most dangerous of all subversions. It is the one

The price of freedom is eternal vigilance...
The problem is that US government put a Patriot Act to limit freedom, in the name of freedom.
Government has not been a good vigilant of freedom, and you can see USSR and Cuba.

GEORGE WASHINGTON:

This one is quite ironic. "PAPER will protect your freedom better than any gun". It sounds crazy, and time proved him wrong too. The constitution has done nothing to preserve liberty in the US :I Why should it? Its paper
