| Bisphenol A - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia A 2008 scientific review has concluded that "perinatal exposure to (...) low doses of (..) BPA, alters breast development and increases breast cancer risk".[30] Another 2008 review concluded that " animal experiments and epidemiological data strengthen the hypothesis that foetal exposure to xenooestrogens may be an underlying cause of the increased incidence of breast cancer observed over the last 50 years".[31] A 2009 scientific review, funded by the "Breast Cancer Fund", has recommended "a federal ban on the manufacture, distribution and sale of consumer products containing bisphenol A". A study in mice in 2009, which found ovary anomalies from exposition as low as 1 µg/kg, concluded that BPA exposure causes long-term adverse reproductive and carcinogenic effects if exposure occurs during prenatal critical periods of differentiation.[48] A 1997 study on mouse has found that neonatal BPA exposure of 2 μg/kg increased adult prostate weight.[56] A 2005 study on mouse has found that neonatal BPA exposure at 10 μg/kg disrupted the development of the fetal mouse prostate.[57] A 2006 study rats has shown that neonatal bisphenol A exposure at 10 μg/kg levels increases prostate gland susceptibility to adult-onset precancerous lesions and hormonal carcinogenesis.[58] A 2007 in vitro study has found that BPA within the range of concentrations currently measured in human serum is associated with permanently increase in prostate size.[59] A 2009 study has found that newborns rats exposed to a low-dose of BPA (10 µg/kg) increased prostate cancer susceptibility when adults. Neuroblastoma In vitro studies have suggested that BPA can promote the growth of neuroblastoma cells. |

There is no proof positive that BPA harms humans. When a study "suggests" it means there .00x (or sometimes .000x) percent correlation between the study and the guessed causes. Grasping at the wind.

Which part of scientific proof/evidence you do not understand in the video/posts given ? Or people only believe scientific evidence when it suits their bias/prejudice ?

If you are dissatisfied with the establishment, wish to releave them of their power, why dont you strike at the root? You should check up on the argument from morality, popularized by Stefan Molyneux. There is no conspiracy theory here, its the naked truth. That statism is dead, and the stateless and thus the FDAless society is where human beings thrive the most, there is least corruption least violence and such. Good luck The Argument From Morality by Stefan Molyneux Last edited by Double; 10-29-2009 at 10:10 PM. Reason: Provided a link |

It's not news that bisphenol A interferes with our systems. Plastics in general are loaded with toxic chemicals including endocrine disruptors. The reality is NOBODY wants to see plastics banned. So we lie to ourself and keep buying things made of plastic, rationalizing it by thinking it wouldn't be legal to make if it was toxic. But anytime a ban on a toxin is proposed, people fight it. So we happily keep using these products. We also happily keep buying crap made in china, even know we know there is ZERO safety testing. A significant enough % of the kids toys and books have lead, yet they're not tested at the border nor do parents care to check. We happily keep overconsuming. We happily keep depending on fossil fuels in general, which fill our air & water with all sort of toxins. We live in a culture where cheap goods are far more important that non-toxic, safe, sustainable, or environmentally sound. Until our entire culture is willing to give up the worship of All-Things-Cheap, things will never change. |

Sometimes environmentalism can be somewhat elitist. Not to pick on you, but my guess would be that your intelligence, education and economic position may be way different than some. While your intentions are very pure and good, they are coming from a place faraway from many others. Last edited by wachusettgirl; 11-01-2009 at 04:32 AM.

mixed feelings /comments on this. not surprised...but a lot of this going on. we have been/ are screwing with our children's bodies for a while with the growth hormones in meats, milk. plus antibiotics because of factory farming. one of the reasons girls are menstruating at 9. we have been testing a lot of stuff on mice for decades...unfortunately a lot of animal testing....which is another topic....is not really that valid because of the LD50 way of testing where per body weight mice are give huge amounts of substances that humans at our weight and size proportionately would not consume. trying to eat healthy and organic IS expensive and even if you do have the knowledge...sometimes the lack of money wins over. there have been a lot of scares with food that worry people for a while, then we fall back into our easy, convenient habits because it is one less thing to have to worry about...not a good attitude, but after a while some just get tired of fighting it all. we all have the choice and personal responsibility to take this info and do what is best for us...you can write letters, boycott, learn more, and just make better, informed decisions...i for one dont' use/don't do most of what was stated in that report. |
