It's funny how seldom people question the fact that our entire civilization seems to hinge on the pursuit of material wealth. Oh well. I don't think that's going to change anytime soon.

An interesting quote from the article:

"Downturns spark depression, yet booms do not create happiness" So true, so true.

The reason for that's pretty simple: up to a point, money and/or material wealth DOES buy happiness, or at the barest minimum allows for the removal of many things that cause unhappiness. Beyond that point, other things become more important.
