Default Solar might have reached grid parity

Sempra solar energy project makes advances in costs - Los Angeles Times

Will that lead to peak Tellurium? (What the heck is Tellurium?)

Very cool. I actually want to get into eco-friendly residential real estate... so the lower these costs come, the more viable that will become.

Default Cost of Electricity

The article you mention talks about the Sempra Solar farm producing electricity at 7.5 cents per kilowatt-hour. If that is true, and I sincerely hope it is, it is amazing. The only states that had lower residential rates in September 2008 were West Virginia (7.41) and Idaho (7.3). Every other state had higher rates.

I just wrote a blog post about high rates in New York. We have the 3rd highest electric rates in the U.S (19.42) cents per kWh. Only Hawaii(36.94) and and Connecticut(20.24) have higher rates.

You can go to the Energy Information Administration to see each states rates for yourself.

You can read my entire post at Tedder's Random Notes

Default Nobody cares about solar?

I am a surprised that no one wants to talk about solar energy in this forum.

Dye-sensitive Solar Cells don't seem to have hit the market here in Australia yet (although annoyingly there's a DyeSol factory within 100km that sells to Europe!) but they look pretty promising.

Not as energy efficient as regular solar but a lot cheaper to manufacture.
