Default Prison cell details

Does anyone know what the minimum size for a legal prison cell is in the USA? I have seen some pretty interesting construction of precast concrete cells designed for 2 people that are pretty darn tiny. They make you never want to break the law! I'm wondering what the Federal minimum is, if such a humanitarian rule even exists. I haven't been able to find one online. Perhaps someone is a better browser than I am.

Big enough to put a crapper beside a bunk.

By the Patriot act, if McCain wins, and large groups of people decide to protest, martial law could be declared in the rioting regions. Those people will find themselves labeled as domestic terrorists. By the Patriot Act, they can be jailed in one of those concrete boxes indefinately without charge or trial. That's you and me. Same goes for if Obama wins. McCain protestors will be in for a surprise.

Regardless of who wins, it is IMPORTANT that we don't riot. Protests MUST be kept peaceful, and procedural. The legislation is in place for martial law if we hit one of the triggers. Rioting is one of the triggers. Ecenomic collapse is one of the triggers. Natural disaster or war. Biological threats.

Could Bidens timeframe for making an "unpopular decision" simply be the decision to declare martial law?

Could be. There's plenty of buzz about an Obama-lose Riot scenario, and an Obama-win 'Celebration' scenario. Either way, civil discourse could trigger martial law. Earlier this year Bush repealed Posse Comitatus which prohibited U.S. troops to walk the streets. It had been in place since the end of the Civil War.

Wow, so if McCain wins and people protest they will immediately be thrown in jail for the rest of their lives. I had no idea how bad McCain was.

It's not just McCain.

One example: How messed up was it for Kerry to stand there and watch Andrew Meyer get arrested and tased for asking a question?

Andrew was pinned down by what, five people, when they tased him?

Its my belief that its not a Republican or Democrat thing. I believe that more gov't control will be a result of our progression towards singularity.

I get this ideology from Ray Kurzweil.

Man, that was one of the most hilarious things I have seen in a long time. Both the video, and the response to it. The police had warned him that he would be arrested if he continued. He continued anyway. The police then tried to control him for two minutes, but he kept pushing at them, etc. When he was on the ground, he was still fighting, and kicking at them. He calmed down long enough to listen to them warning him that he would get zapped if he kept fighting. So he kept fighting, and was surprised when they zapped him?? Seriously?
Quite frankly, I'm surprised that he didn't yell, "Come and see the violence inherent in the system. Help help! I'm being repressed!"

This is one of the main problems with our society today. "If you don't come in right now, there's no tv tonight.... I mean it... come in... John, I'm not playing. No tv... John... John, are you listening? John, I'm going to go get your father... John... John, get in here right now.... John, that's it! No tv. John... I know you hear me... (this continues for 10 minutes until the kid finally comes into the house, then he whines that he gets no tv.) Ok, fine. go watch power rangers." There are ZERO consequences for people, and everyone believes that they are not responsible for their actions.

Police are only supposed to use a taser in a situation where they would also use gun, due to the inherent risk of death.

This is obviously not a scenario when a gun would be used.

Dan,

I thought that they used the taser in place of the billy club not the gun. I'm not sure though.

But I do know that police pull the taser out waaaay too much. Its not like the guy had a weapon.

I'm not sure if the police should be punished but I do think that they should tighten up the rules on when and when they cannot use tasers. They should be used only if the police are physically at risk of being harmed such as when its one on one.

The biggest fear that police have now is that the person will wrestle away their gun. When one on one this makes since however with 5 cops and one guy who's verbally protesting... a little too much force IMO.

Risk of being harmed != risk of death. Ever been kicked in the nose? It generally ends up broken. Watch the video again. The idiot is kicking at the cop that is trying to hold his feet.
