Default Why did Obama pick Biden?

Biden will be entertaining - It might come back to bite him - who would have been better?

I'm personally not a fan of Biden. He is too involved with the military industrial complex for my taste.

I'd have loved to see Scott Ritter.

I also don't like the choice of Biden.

It probably has a lot today with the fact that Obama thinks that he can work with Biden.
The two know each other from being in the Senate together.

Neither one of them have had a real job other than being politicians. Obama has been in the Senate for three and a half years. Out of that time, he has been campaigning for president for two years. No executive experience anywhere for either Obama or Biden. Political hacks.

So you are saying they bring two lifetimes of political experience?

Impressive!

I suspect his influence here has a lot to do with it: Joseph R. Biden Jr. - Council on Foreign Relations

Could you explain what that comment has to do with the question of why Obama picked Biden?

Because he is an old white guy with white hair. His role was to balance Obama's inexperience and draw the votes of those on the who are concerned with that.

McCain picked Palin to appease the right wing base with her hyper-conservative views, which is working, I've heard several from the very far right say the best thing that could happen is that McCain get elected and then die immediately.

Then there's the rest of us that see all this for what it is, an attempt to manipulate the system in order to win, to win at any cost. Discouraging to say the least, but after speaking with some history buffs I'm relieved to know things have been done this way from the very start, the quest for the golden ring has always taken the low, crooked road, I've just that I've taken enough interest to see it for what it is.

^You pretty much hit the nail on the head. Biden bring's experience to the Obama campaign. As far as manipulation goes, I just hope that they've fixed all of the vote counting problems this time around. The last couple elections were appalling in that manner.

I was actually a little ashamed to be an American when the Florida deal went down, real 3rd world backward stuff, it was.

^Agreed. I just saw the mini series "Recount" and I really did not know there was that much BS involved in the whole thing. Then last election with the Diebold machines... I really think that Obama will crush it though, even if the machines are biased in McCain's favor.

I believe if the election were held today McCain would win both the popular and electoral by a 5-10% margin on popular and closer on electoral. A lot can happen between now and then, both ways.
