I would say that an attack on Iran would quite possibly be the dumbest move ever made by the Bush administration, bar none. For one thing, the entire Gulf region is within range of Iranian anti-ship and anti-aircraft missiles. If there was even a suggestion of an imminent attack, the Iranians would be able to blockade the Straits of Hormuz, effectively stopping all seagoing traffic, in or out of the Gulf. If that happened, the price of oil would skyrocket, as 20-40% of the worlds oil comes from the Gulf. Nobody would have anything to gain by an attack on Iran. If anything, such an attack would prove the complete and total ineptitude of the Bush administration's foreign policy, and guarantee a Democratic victory in November.

More than likely, the article is bogus, designed to provoke a reaction from Iran. If we really were planning to attack, said plans would definitely not be released into the media.

I think that an attack on Iran is just impractical, but then again, the Bush adm. isn't the most rational...

Attacking Iraq was strategic, calculated and planned. It made since to those who profit from it. Iraq was sellable for a wide variety of reasons and through deception.

Iran would be the last straw.

It would be foolish for those who rule the US.

Bush doesnt rule the US he's a representative certain monied interests like most politicians.

Iran would blow their ability to maintain backdoor access in the future.

All the US will do is bluff. However Israel already has attacked Iran numerous times. They may do an all out air assault on nuclear targets and the US will be there if Iran fights back.

When people speak of Iran they always speak of the US attacking. Probably because they're not too familiar with specific politics involved.
