The energy you got from that process is around the same that you need to seperate hydrogen and oxygen beforehand (there is a bit of loss of energy through because you aren't working 100% efficent).

If your cars run on electricity and coal becomes a problem, you can switch to something else. If your cars run on oil, and oil becomes a problem, then you're pretty much screwed.

| Never understood how people got so addicted to cars. I never had one. I am still alive. But I am in fact not happy to hear that fresh water will replace oil as fuel. We need fresh water for many more purposes than driving cars. We need it to drink, to grow food, for hygiene reasons. We never used oil that much to drink, to grow food or for hygiene so it was not a big deal that people would use oil to drive their cars. But fresh water!! A large part of the world still doesn't have access to good fresh water facilities ans so fresh water that is not infected with bacteria and viruses or polluted by chemicals from industries. So the amount of fresh water for people and the reserves of it are even more to worry about than the amount of oil that has left....and certainly when people start dreaming of running their cars on fresh water. I think the only solution is that all people that are living in large cities that have public transport and really nice roads get rid of their "car" addiction. Use public transport, your own feet, a bike. If your job is far away....go live closer to it, or chose a job closer to where you live. You will save a lot of money, a lot of time, you will not pollute the air and above all the oil would not be sold out that quick. If you use your bike or walk....you will not have to go to the gym anymore to exercise. If they can close the gym...some people will have to find another job...but as more people are walking and biking they could repair shoes and bikes not? And if the gym is closed...the air conditioning doesn't have to run, no lights have to used, and so again less energy gets lost. I am sure that you all are smart and creative enough to lower the use of cars and even the use of other stuff that are often a waste of raw materials and energy. Buy less clothes. If you do so the industry doesn't have to produce that much as it won't get sold. Less energy and raw materials would be wasted. And so on. And those who are laboring in the clothes factory could have some more time to do something else...grow some food for themselves, read a book, take care of some cattle? |

| ~Water burns. ~It produces an extremely high temp flame. (1700 centigrade.) ~The energy needed is relatively low to accomplish this. (Car Batteries.) ~It is not perpertual motion. (Additonal means needed to supplement orginal energy. Solar, High capacity battery tech, etc.) ~It is a very intelligent option to replace $7.00 a gallon (projected) fuel costs. ~The exhaust is harmless oxygen. ~Japanese car company has produced a working prototype, with slight change to the core concept. | Any kind of water is used. But you have a point about trying to fuel billions and billons of cars with water. |

| Then again if the Air Force would mind their own damn business as far as Nature is concerned, there would be more Water bearing clouds in the skies. Weather Modification Act of 2005. HR 2995 IH 109th CONGRESS |

If any water can be used, do you mean that we would be able to fill up are tank with salty unfiltered seawater and that this seawater won't have any bad influence on the components of the installation, equipment? Have been at sea for a few years, and the salty air and high humidity makes that many electronic components, plastics, metals etc...worn out and get damaged about 10 times quicker than on the main land. So it would surprise me if they could use untreated salty sea water. If the sea water needs to be conditioned first...than again tons of energy will be needed to do so. |

There is also the problem of the climate that is warming up and changes where the raindrops will come down from these clouds. Many clouds disappear at sea again. They don't reach the African continent anymore. So it starts far often raining at sea....before the clouds reach the shores or the continent. The rainwater falls into the salty sea and no fresh water reaches the land. So more clouds would be not enough. They should drift upon the land before they condensate and so it starts to rain. |

But if they can't use seawater directly I think we just have another new problem that could be worse than just running out of oil.....at least if everybody believes that the main purpose of their lives is to run their car daily. In the Emirates they have gas and oil. But their extreme consumption of these kind of energy for imo crazy purposes nearly decadent, they don't have enough with that. They recently started to do import of coal from Australia and elsewhere. They seem to need extra energy to produce Fresh water. The fresh water generators that turn seawater into water that can be used for consumption and hygiene will run on coal......and coal pollutes quite a lot and so it costs them a lot as well to get the energy to turn salty seawater into fresh water and they are just doing this now to provide the population and tourists fresh water to shower and drink and of course to fill up the huge swimming pools and run the "snow machine" on the artificial ski facility. But they are not running their cars yet on fresh water...if one day they will go for the car running on water concept...and the water has to be fresh water to start from....well I don't think I would call it a blessing. Still searching of salty seawater would work, haven't found an answer yet. |

| Water doesn't burn. Know why? Because it is burned hydrogen. Seriously! Burning is essentially the oxidation of a substance. Water is a Hydrogen atom with two Oxygen atoms attached. It is burned hydrogen. Water doesn't burn for the same reasons that ashes don't burn. In all the examples you posted, they are burning hydrogen, not water. |
