Default This hits home

This story hits especially close to home. And this article is about the Army while my friend was Navy, so the problem is even bigger than this one story would make it appear I am sure.

Soldier suicides hit highest rate, 115 last year - Yahoo! News

Sadly, I was too busy plastering my truck with "Support our troops" bumper stickers to read this article... or ones I've noticed recently about the trouble that veterans consistently have reintegrating into society after they leave the (bloody violent scary) front...

The question I have now is, does anyone make a "Support the people who just happen to currently be soldiers by helping them with their emotional and physical needs" bumper sticker? I feel I would like to deal with this new knowledge by purchasing several in order to further adorn my truck.

There are probably some print on demand shops for dumper stickers. Otherwise there are definitly print of demand T-Shirt shops.

Dave, where are ya?

Aspiring, I wonder what Dave would say about this? He has said that ALL military people are murders, that he has no repect for them and that he would commit suicide before being a part of something that was committing murder.

I don't want to put words in his mouth but I definitely wonder what his opinion on this is...

I am certainly not that extreme and I don't think anyone deserves to go through what soldiers go through. I also adore them for being willing to fight and die for something they believe in. It does however interest me that the consequences of a choice are real no matter the intentions behind the choice, or the consciousness with which a decision is mad. The consequences of jumping off a bridge are the same no matter your reasons for doing it, or whether is was done willingly.

My heart goes out to those men and women who are willing to deal with those consequences for the best reasons possible.

Smell like Vietnam war II "lite"..

Suicide Wall: Suicide Statistics

Quote:
If the estimate of over 150,000 veterans of the Vietnam War having committed suicide since returning home is true, the figure would be almost three times the number killed in the war. When these deaths are added to the 50,000 plus Vietnam War casualties, the number approaches the 292,000 American casualties of World War II.
