HA HA. YouTube - Who's That Hiding In My Fox 5 News Logo? I doubt Fox News' viewers will be affected. Fortunately, hypnosis doesn't work on smart people... Oh, wait. Last edited by Tasaio; 05-11-2008 at 02:13 AM. |

I'm just saying that there are bigger fish to fry. Especially considering that the US has been torturing detainees to death. And considering that the US occupation of Iraq resulted in the deaths of up to a million Iraqi citizens. Shouldn't you be more concerned that Bush admitted to approving torture? Have you read through the autopsies of the men and women we tortured to death? |

Also even if they are bias it doesn't mean you shouldn't watch because you'll be able to see what their position is. Fox is no more biased than CNN, NBC or CBS. Fox saw that all major media was liberal and they took a business decision to be more right based to cater to that audience. Let's not forget that about half the people are Republican. Jenihul said Republicans aren't that smart. I'm not a Republican nor a Democrat but I'm not so sure that this is an accurate statement. Last edited by Still Growing; 05-16-2008 at 01:27 PM.

Things like that are always getting slipped into TV shows. The only recourse is to stop watching or put up with it while staying vigilant. They've all got their agendas to push. Everything is owned by corporations. The news isn't information, it's sensationalistic entertainment with a pro-corporate spin.

| He is the only person flashed on the screen. It's not like they flashed a bunch of stuff and it's very indicative of subliminal persuasion. Have you read anything about subliminal messaging? It's absolutely a legitimate concern and it has proven to be effective. My friend who is very active in politics told me it's no surprise to him because it's well known that FOX is for McCain. You can dismiss it, but it has all the makings of a subliminal flash. It's too obvious to be a mistake.

| You're seriously arguing that subliminal messages never work? I think it's common knowledge that any kind of repetative visual stimulation will make you think more about whatever it is that's being flashed. Obviously "how effective" is questionable, but that's not the point of this discussion. The point is that they're even trying to do it, it's wrong. And, if there's even the slightest chance it could have an effect on the vote, it should not be allowed. A line has to be drawn somewhere. You can say, "Well, if you don't like it, don't watch TV. Then you can't be affected." But, what about the people who don't realize they're being manipulated (which is most people)? Maybe this won't have an effect, but we shouldn't allow them to even try it. If we let this go, what will they try next? Subliminal audio that's barely audible under your favorite TV show? "John McCain for President John McCain for President John McCain for President John McCain for President" Don't think they won't try it if we let them. They'll push it as far as they can. We should be able to watch the news objectively without any attempts to brainwash us, whether they work or not.

It's also worth noting that Fox News has a reputation for right-wing bias and false information. Ignorance is no excuse; the people who believe what Fox News tells them do so at their own peril. Whether it's right or it's wrong, there are bigger fish to fry and better causes to fight for.

As far as "people" as you call them are concerned, you're right. It's not your responsibility to educate them. And, you're right, ignorance is not an excuse, it's a fact. Many many people in this country are ignorant. We can choose to ignore that fact and just worry about ourselves, or we can attempt to be part of the solution. I'm not sure what your "bigger fish to fry" are, but personally, I consider ignorance the major problem with this country. You may not think this FOX thing is important, that's fine. But to tell people they're wrong to question it because YOU don't think it's important is wasting the time you could be using to "fry" your bigger fish. Maybe you should go start a thread on what you think is important to change and let the rest of us discuss the topic of this thread. If it's so unimportant, why are you here talking about it?

I agree Fox News has a right-wing bias. That is wrong. CNN, NBC and MSNBC have a left wing bias. Which is also wrong. Do you agree?

Moral or not, I don't like what they do. I don't like the fact that the media presents every issue as if there are only two sides. I don't like the fact that they worship some political figures while the ones I'm truly interested in, like Ron Paul and Ralph Nader, are marginalized or ignored. The only mainstream news I get is the headlines shown when I log into my e-mail account. I've boycotted everything else.

All the media "had" a bias towards pushing into the Iraq war. Had being the key word. There are millions of topics in which to highlight the biases of each station... Iraq is not the only hotpoint. Dan, I want to hear it from you.... "Do you think Fox is right wing bias and the other stations are fair with no bias..." Thats what I hear you saying but could you confirm it.

Eric, You want to know why their are only two parties in power and why the media ignores other potential candidates? Because the advertisers and shareholders of the major news channels have either the Rep or Dems or both in their pockets. Why would they want an outsider they don't control? The media just cares about making money and pandering to their advertisers and shareholders. Its pathetic. Last edited by Still Growing; 05-22-2008 at 01:51 PM. |
