I found this great article that I think hits one of America's major problems right on the head: We don't appreciate creativity anymore. We want experts instead of inventive jacks-of-all-trades. We want presidents with "experience" (Clinton) or presidents who will "kick some ass" (McCain) instead of someone with a creative vision (Obama), or someone with extensive practical knowledge (Paul). We're so focused on "getting things done" that we sometimes forget to ask if there are better things to do. America 2.0: The creative imperative What do you think? |

I don't think the people really wants that. It's the recruiting personnel and bosses that want it. Others only want it because they need it to get a job. A strong economy depends on creative people starting new businesses. The US economy is failing because the existing businesses are holding down creativity by crushing new ideas and the patent system is one of their most important tools. |

I Swedish so I have nothing to do with America Well, I did support Microsoft for many years, but that's changed. I still drink Coca-Cola though, sorry 'bout that. I wonder what other American products I should stop using... I guess I should give up Hollywood movies and American TV series too... |

Whoohoo! As a natural dabbler stuck in a vocational, but well-paying job, that article resonates with me. Could it be true? Could we Americans really return to the life of dabble and still manage to re-shape our country and paradigm? Damn, it has gotten boring here. I hope it's true. Jennifer |
