Default Im curious why both my threads taken down?

Both threads were taken down without warning or a private message, they obeyed all of the 'rules':

No name calling
No personal attacks (i.e. "You're an idiot if you think that")
No unqualified one-liner potshots (i.e. "All republicans suck!")
No trolling
Be kind, considerate and responsible

I was simply pointing out two large society impact articles to this forum: Female Sperm, Lesbian Reproduction and US Catholic church paid 615 mln dlrs for abuse cases in 2007

If you feel this was inappropriate please message me

Angry

Yes, I very much agree. Those posts did not break any rules, and were both extremely interesting.

There are other existing threads, however, that break nearly all of the rules.

I recommend making a complaint to Steve himself.

The links weren't inappropriate, I took them down only because there was no original content or comments added to the articles when you posted them. The threads were just links with quoted excerpts from the articles, with no analysis whatsoever.

Nothing against linking, but please add some original content or analysis as well.

What do you mean? People make links without original content all the time-- yourself included.

Election, Final Fantasy Style

At the moment there are two threads presenting only Youtube links on the front page of this forum:

Obama youtube video

Slick Willy fakes crying in front of cameras

Could you please clarify why only the OP's threads were taken down, and not these others?

The first link has only a picture and no link.

From our general forum rules:
Quote:
Adequately describe linked content - When posting links to files or web sites, include a clear description of the linked content. This allows members to more easily decide whether a link will be of interest to them.
The two links to Amadeus really are a bit on the line.

In general we are more strict with the forum rules with new members, especially when it comes to linking to outside material.
We don't want that people to only sign up at our forum to promote third party websites.

andyoyo could also violate the copyright of the person who wrote the orginal article through his big excerpt.

Talking about this in terms of “bad news” or “bad judgment by business leaders” seems archaic. It’s like describing World War One as “a serious diplomatic concern.”
Bruce Sterling about the financial crisis.
