Default Kiva.org - Loans That Change Lives

Does anybody here lend through Kiva? The concept is really interesting:
Kiva.org - Loans that change lives

Quote:
Kiva lets you connect with and loan money to unique small businesses in the developing world. By choosing a business on Kiva.org, you can "sponsor a business" and help the world's working poor make great strides towards economic independence. Throughout the course of the loan (usually 6-12 months), you can receive email journal updates from the business you've sponsored. As loans are repaid, you get your loan money back.

I have made a few loans there.

There's aren't many potential borrowers on there right now, because it's so popular. They are adding a bunch shortly.

Default Kiva: Give it a go

I'm a regular Kiva lender.

The concept works for me. Empowering people to grow their business to better their lives directly.

With so much publicity they are having a hard time getting enough borrowers into their network for the lenders to fund! Its a great growth problem to have!

I try to give about once a month, I find that the fact the the same money loaned out can be recirculated to fund different loans very clever.

I like the Kiva concept better than traditional charity gifting.

I, too, am a lender on Kiva. I think it's an awesome concept! I love being able to help someone that is working to improve their life. I also like the one to one aspect of it (well, it's not totally one to one, but you know what I mean). I think working on a personal level like that can have the quickest impact.
