This should seem like a pretty simple question to answer. I took an html class but forgot what the command is to get the page up where I can edit my site to do HTML work to it. Can someone walk me through this again? I know how to HTML I just don't know which buttons to click to bring up the screen to put the codes in.

It sounds like you are using some kind of editor to make your site (Dreamweaver, FrontPage etc...) I can't help you with FrontPage but for Dreamweaver just go to View -> Code (or Code & Design) Or you can do it the old fashion way and open up your file in notepad. |

You know HTML but you don't know how to open one up to edit it? It's as simple as opening any other document, you double click on the file's icon; that should open it up in the preferred text editor. Most likely it will open it up in Notepad. If you are asking how to open up an HTML document that is on a site already, you should first consult the guides and FAQ on your hosting provider on how to open an FTP connection to your server (you need an FTP Client program for that). Once you have the connection you have to find the directory where the HTML file is residing, download it to a directory (My Documents or something) on your computer; double click on it (same as above), edit it, save it, then upload that changed file into the directory on the server you downloaded it from. You can only do this if you are paying your hosting provider, if this is one of those free wordpress blogs - I highly doubt they would allow any users an FTP connection to their servers. There are a number of tutorials on the internet for beginners that would better assist you. |
