Default Quick question about html

Hi I have a real quick question probably really easy for someone to answer. I need to insert meta tag on my homepage for my website...How do I do this? I know I just need to copy paste it in between the <head> </head> and before the body but how do I pull up the window that lets me edit the homepage? Thank you in advance :-D Cheers.

Well, the quickest way of doing it is probably by opening the file on the fly using FileZilla (connect to your FTP account, right-click on index.html (with a static site) or the file that contains your header (if a php-based site), select view/edit, paste in your meta tag, save, close and upload). Your web host might also have an online control panel with a file manager that you can use.

It depends on how your site was developed. Is it simply a static HTML site with html files? If so, you just do the FTP thing.

But many sites these days have their own content management system (CMS). Chances are that yours does as well. If so, you need to find out how you edit or add tags through the system. If it doesn't have the ability, you may need a programmer to add it in.

By the way, you don't need to worry about the Meta keyword tag if that's what you're thinking. But you do want to be sure you can customize your Title tags, and Meta description tags (although those aren't as important as the Titles).

Hope this helps!
