hi guys, anyone here use LIVEJOURNAL? LiveJournal.com - Start a Free Blog / Journal Today It looks like a cool website |
| |||
|
Yup, I use it - more as a social network than as a blog, though. The syndication options are pretty cool, and it's all very flexible and plugs into just about anything. There's even a Remote Authentication protocol built into GeekLog for LJ users to log in via their LJ credentials, not needing to create a new username/password. However, like anything with no barriers to entry, it's also full of wankers. Not as bad as MySpace, but still pretty bad.

I just made an account, is it possible to send a message to a friend on LJ or can you only leave comments? |
| |||
|
Hmm... Dunno, never tried. Only ever left comments. One of the nice things about LJ is that you can be very selective with who sees what, and whose blog posts you see. Here's a nice book review feed to get you started: Twisted Librarian (syndicated by LiveJournal.com) It's suckling from the teat of the Twisted Librarian, link's in my sig. A constant supply of fresh book reviews.

Yes, I am a LiveJournal user. I use it as a personal journal where I record my thoughts. It is a nice site. I use it in supplement to my blog, which is on my website, located in the signature below. I find it very useful in its own way. I do not post anything as private, but I'm sure no one is reading it, as most of it is not formatted. It is really where I can free write. Color outside the lines, in a way.

*raises hand* I'm insert_nanotech on LJ. (I plan to change my username to etheleona -- they charge for it though, unfortunately.) Any members here are welcome to friend me. I use LJ as a personal diary, to communicate with friends, and as an omnibus notebook to store my notes on various topics. I am also a moderator on a reincarnation community called alt_pastlives. |

I've been using Livejournal since the year 2000 or 2001...I've had some of the same "friends" on my friends list since then and it's been amazing watching how their lives have unfolded and sharing mine with them. I've even met a few of those people and consider them good friends offline. I keep most of my entries "friends only" and I also post private entries when I just feel like writing something to work it out for me personally. I think LJ is a really great, flexible tool and a lot of fun.

Another LJ user here--with the same username that I use here. Like others have said my LJ is mostly to keep up with friends and the occasional blog post that I manage to get beyond the "wow I should blog about that" stage. I suppose there are a lot of "wankers" on the site, but because of the way the friends lists are set up, I really never see them.
