Default Anyone ever ask you to re-post your blog articles on their site?

Within the last couple of days, I've had two different people ask me if they could re-print some of my blog articles on their site, with full links and credit back to mine. The Websites in question have very low page ranks (and do not look all that impressive to begin with), so I'm not sure if there's a benefit for me here or not.

Have any of my fellow bloggers here ever been approached with this sort of request? How did you handle it?

I get so many of these requests that I had to come up with a policy for it. I wrote it up in the FAQ (see item #10), which saves me a lot of time.

Overall I think it's worth giving people permission to do it, as long as they don't overdo it. I limit the number of articles people can use to 5.

It's a great way to promote your site, just make sure that when they post your article they use a prepared short "bio" at the bottom of it, which also links back to your site.

I too have had people request this and I always say yes. It gives your site added credibility and gives you extra traffic.

I've also noticed that there are bad linkers who repost the whole post without permission and don't link back to my site either. I guess they never passed 4rd grade English and don't understand what plagiarism is.

The people who've asked me first have always been stand up people...knock on wood.

Thanks for all the great responses.

Steve, your policy makes a lot of sense -- looks like I'll be using something very similar to yours. I also really like the "short bio" idea.

I don't know about letting them post the entire article on their site, but I would definitely give them permission to link to your site, because backlinks strengthen your site in whole, like standing with google, blog popularity, etc.
