Ok, I have been stumbling again . Hopefully you guys have noticed some increased traffic to your sites....

I have had one article go viral so far (24 Daily Habits) so I figured I would do a follow up. Any stumbling for my latest article 12 More Daily Habits would be appreciated.

Default New Article Series

This is my biggest write up so far, and I think very useful and informative, if I do say so myself :P

So, here it is to read, and if you like, submit to SU, reddit, digg, or any other traffic generating site... there are links at the bottom of the article to do so.

Learn To See Your Own Rose-Colored Glasses

PS - I know a few of you have already read parts of it and commented... thank you for your feedback!

I have started hosting a blog carnival for anyone interested in bringing a little traffic to their site. You can e-mail me or send a message on these forums if you are interested.

Carnival - Philosophy and Religion | Small-town Big-shot

It doesn't really need a Stumble, but I have added a couple of new articles to the site if anyone wants to check those out.

I'm having trouble understanding how Stumbleupon works.

If I stumble a site who sees that I did it?
Also I can't seem to find people I'm looking for. Would someone be so kind as to explain.

If you see a site you like, click the "thumbs up" on the toolbar. Your profile will show up on that page's stumble profile (usually stumbleupon.com/url/URL TO SITE)

If you want to leave a comment, click the white speech cloud next to the thumbs.

To find someone go to username.stumbleupon.com (I.E. bnx.stumbleupon.com)

Thanks JimC. I guess I didn't explain myself very well.

Once on stumbleupon, I find it hard to navigate. How do I find out how a particular site is doing, or do I have look for the user/users that stumbled it?

Thanks for your response.

To look at a particular site you can click the speech bubble I mentioned.

Or you can add /url/the_site_link_here to stumbleupon.com

For example, if I wanted to check how Steve's Podcasts are doing, I would go to:
Code:
http://www.stumbleupon.com/url/www.stevepavlina.com/audio/

Hey everyone, I could use some stumble love for this one:

21 Critical Life Lessons You Didn’t Learn in School

I just made a pass of the last 2 pages of this thread, and stumbled these:
12 More Daily Habits » I will change your life . com
Learn To See Your Own Rose-Colored Glasses : A Miracle A Day
Words Words Words » The Top Ten Tips for Improving Your Writing
We the Sheeple

I also tried to stumble this one (below) but kept getting a bad URL error from the SU toolbar every time I hit the thumbs-up: Carnival - Philosophy and Religion | Small-town Big-shot

Default New And Old

I just want to start off by saying that it's nice when you guys stumble my articles, but I really post them on here as much to let the people in this group know that I have new articles (as I have a few people I think of as friends that I met through here). That being said, I got 1850-ish unique users from SU yesterday for one of my articles, so I'm pretty happy

Now, on to the articles:

First, my two new articles, one inspired by Jenny and Erin, and the other all out of my own head:

The one from my own head:
Seven Deadly Sins Now "Slightly Injurious"

And the other:
The Truth About Pain (Physical AND Mental)

And now, a blast from the past... a few articles I think you guys might like from before I joined this thread, perhaps before it got started (don't judge by the date, it got screwed up when I changed blogging platforms).

Unintentionally Changing Someone's Life

The Right Job

Do You Use This Excuse

Justified VS Understandable

So that's a boatload of reading... hope you enjoy, whether you stumble (or reddit/digg/whatever) or not.

Default Social Bookmarking

I've written an article that's off topic for my blog, but might be useful to you guys, about how to write an article that attracts attention from social bookmarking sites, like Stumble Upon, Digg, Reddit, or whatever else. The basics are the same regardless, though choice of title or description might vary by site.

Like I said, I know it's off topic, but it's stuff I have been interested in lately, and might help some people who are new to blogging, or to social bookmarking (and I'm guessing that people who read this thread are interested in both of the above topics).

If it bothers those of you who regularly read my site that it's not about self development, I apologize... this sort of thing is not going to be a regular occurrence, I've just wanted to do it since I got so much traffic from StumbleUpon on Sunday.

So, with that being a huge write up for an article that's not that long, here's the link:

I’m still relatively new to the stumbleupon concept, so you can understand how I found it surprising when I was getting loads of traffic (and some on-site comments) from them for just one of my post entries.

Are there any (non-obvious) benefits to joining? (Like maybe free links, stumble page exchanging, etc.)

I also wanted to know if there is a way to keep track of how many people stumble pages from a site? I wanted to find out how many pages of my site were stumbled, but can’t seem to find it anywhere.

EDIT: I also appreciate all the stumbles everyone gave for my site , and if anyone wants to stumble my pages, add as friend (I use same username), let me know PM me (same could go for digg, delicious, etc.)

Stumble exchanging is actually against the SU rules, which is why we only encourage it here if you truly enjoy the content of the page/article. And I agree with that, as I want people to actually like my site, not pretend to.

SU has a great community, I have met a bunch of interesting people. I think of it like a myspace but without all the ads and cluttering, and you can filter your friends to your own interests. I think the community is my favorite part.

If your site gets a lot of stumbles and reviews, it can end up in the spotlight sites on SU which potentially leads to a few hundred extra visitors a day for a couple of days.

Other than that, it is what it is.

I would like to know this too. I have to check each page manually.

But perhaps obsessive stumble checking is just as bad as checking your weight? *shrug*

Yeah, that is what I meant by exchange, as in liking actual pages of other stumblers.

Is this the same sort of thing as stumble's "recently popular" sections? And gets you that many more visitors?

Yeah, I forgot the name, but that's the one. One of my articles got put up there one day and I got an extra 1000 visitors.

Good article (just stumbled it). Didn't know about those mail hackers.

PS: I like that poll feature you have on your sidebar, does it give good feedback.

I haven't got many votes because of traffic (or maybe placement) but the plugin is really cool and simple. If you want polls, that's the best way to go I think.

If you want, you can always StumbleUpon my article if it's of use to you -

How to Fall Asleep Quickly

I haven't found any really great methods online that explain how to fall asleep with ease, so I typed up an article to help out the people who were having some trouble. :P Stumble if you like it!

Default Law Of Attraction De-Mystified

I have a new article up, and I'm also giving away a copy of The Secret to one of my subscribers... I only have 8 right now, so I'd say you have a pretty good chance of winning, if you're one of those 8.

Needless to say, I'm hoping that in the 2 weeks or so the contest is open to enter that count will go much higher... if you know anyone that would be interested in subscribing and entering the contest, feel free to send them to my site (or link away if you want... I'm always open to more links :P)

So here's the article:
Law Of Attraction De-Mystified

Good luck!

Default Another One

Hmm, am I posting too much? If I am, someone please let me know... just trying to let people know when I write something new (though I suppose you could just subscribe if you really wanted to know).

Anyway, I like today's, so here it is:

How To Get Rid Of Bad Dreams In One Simple Step

The last one I wrote like that is the one that got over 2000 page views in one day (SU users really liked it once a couple of you stumbled it). Here's hoping for a repeat performance! :P

StumbleUpon is great. I've received over 600 extra visits from 2 stumbles in the last week. I'll be sure to go through everyone's sigs and stumble posts.

Default Two New Series

I wrote a post today that I think is going to kick off two new series/topics:

What Schools Don't Teach - How To Be A Man

I'm going to expand on both parts of that title, with more posts on what schools don't teach, and more "How To Be A" whatever type articles. So I'm posting it here so you can read it (I've had a few people tell me they really, really like this post), and so you can, if you feel like it, suggest things to fill in the blank, ie how to be an honorable athlete, or what schools don't teach - how to find a mate (John Place).

As an aside, I just created a flier for my website (I'm NOT a professional marketing person), and I'm going to post it in a few places, and I don't mean online. Have any of you experimented with this, and if so, did it work? Is anyone interested in giving me feedback on my flier (it's one image)? Any feedback on either design or places to put it (and feel free to print it and put it places yourself, I would certainly appreciate the help) would be much appreciated.

Sheesh, that was a long post. I guess I'll end it there.

Jason

Default Highest Number

What's the most visitors any of you have received in one day from StumbleUpon? My highest was around 1850-1900.

About 8000, maybe?

Right now, I've got a story on the front page of Reddit, and I just want to reiterate what a PLEASURE StumbleUpon users are. Traffic from Reddit is obnoxious and juvenile. I turned off comments on the article in question because there were too many trolls.

Update: Can you believe I just had 21,000 visits in one day? Today, one of my articles hit the front page of Digg and Reddit at the same time. Good Grief. I hope I get some new inbound links out of this, since traffic from Digg and Reddit doesn't generally convert into anything useful besides links.

Hey guys :]

I relaunched my old casualscience.net with 2 articles.

Feel free to comment, criticize, and/or stumble.

It's very empty right now, but I am working hard on it as we speak.

I don't know what happened, I was getting loads of traffic from referrals, stumbles, from stumbleupon over the past few days (for just one article), and now my numbers are way back down again (If no one else is stumbling my other pages).

I suppose stumble traffic is only temporary, right?
