I just registered for Stumble Upon and when I went to view my public profile page it has my user name as my blog. I've checked help but can't figure out how to change this. Can anyone advise me??

Maybe just reregister with the name you want? I have a problem too actually, the first time one of my posts was stumbled it went like crazy for a bit (about 150 hits) and then stopped very suddenly, which I found kind of strange, and then I tried to stumble one of my own posts and after almost 12 hours exactly 0 hits from stumbleupon. Anyone have any ideas about what went wrong or is this normal?

Stu: your blog showed up as a brand new stumble for some reason. BTW folks on blogs the page may show as stumbled when you have put up a new article because the url doesn't change, need to stumble the permalink. I think I caught up with stumbles, my current article is at We the Sheeple |

I usually don't even add tags... maybe that's why. Anyway, I made a post that will hopefully be of value to fellow bloggers: Things to blog about. | Small-town Big-shot If you find it useful, +stumble it, and I will add to the list in the future. |

Chet: I had a problem using the stumbleupon button in your socialable plugin (it took me to a invalid url). Its a problem I have heard of before, you may want to test it and see if the info on this page applies. I still managed to stumble your article though another way Interfaceleader and JimC I also stumbled your articles. I'm going to bed soon... I'll read some more of the articles in this thread tomorrow and see if I can stumble some. 2 recent articles of mine that could use some love are: 8 Ways to Make Routine Tasks Interesting 10 Dumb Banking Mistakes I See Everyday That Cost You Money

Hello All I have signed up at SU about a month ago without understanding fully how it system works. Since I read this thread, I learnt about it more and realise its potential of bringing traffic to websites. Thanks. And so I went back there today and complete my profile. My username is putu30 and my blog is about travelling; Bali Tour Guide: Everything About Traveling to The Paradise Island. But I am interested in personal development, anything funny articles or photos, so I will add you all here as my friends, if you don't mind. |

First, I added a couple of new articles: Being Distracted Is Your Own Fault and Self Development Free For All - What Do You Want To Know Okay, that being said... I have stumbled a few of my articles myself, and then had them show up as not having been stumbled (this is recent... the last week maybe), even though my little "thumbs up" is showing that I rated it. Does anyone know if there's some magical number of stumbles you're allowed to do on one domain name or something? Did I do something wrong to get my stumbles for my site marked as spam? StumbleUpon is normally my primary source of traffic, so if my stumbles don't count to get people started looking at it, then I'll have very little traffic at all :P. I wish it wasn't my primary source, but it is... also, since my site redesign a couple days ago, my individual articles aren't showing up on google searches (they used to), though the main page shows up with them on it. Anyone have any ideas on these things? I know they're sort of technical issues, more than about driving traffic, but since that's how I GET traffic, I need to figure it out. |

So I experimented, and apparently there is some sort of limit, because I can stumble other sites (including my other sites hosted on the same server/IP address, but different domain names), but no longer A Miracle A Day. That being the case, I can still post my new articles I think are good on here, and you guys can stumble them, but I'm curious if any of you have any other suggestions on how to draw traffic (by the way, there are a bunch of links at the bottom of each post on my site where you can submit the post to various places, or vote for it if it's already submitted, a la Digg, Reddit, Del.icio.us, etc.)? I keep reading from various sources (ProBlogger, CopyBlogger, even Steve Pavlina) that the way to get traffic is to post comments on other blogs, but I'm not really exactly certain how to find other blogs with enough readers to actually generate any traffic or links for me. Do you guys have anywhere that you submit your articles to (an article directory or something), or other suggestions for places where I might be able to generate more visibility for my blog? I don't think there's a problem with my content (I hope not!), but it doesn't matter if content is the most fantastic in the world, if it never gets seen. Also, on a side note, anyone have any suggestions for getting more comments from the people who DO come look? I really want to grow a community (I'm not EVEN doing this to generate money, though that's a happy potential side effect), people who will communicate with me through my blog and expand my knowledge and understanding. In order to do that, I need to generate traffic, and I understand how to do that for a different sort of site (I could have many readers easily if I started a blog on technology... I understand how to target Digg/Slashdot/whatever readers, and get people from those site to come look at tech stuff), but I really don't know where to go to get the visibility I need in the personal development space. . Jason: I had the same issue with individual articles not showing up in google search results initially. That changed after I installed a plugin that generated a sitemap whenever I updated, in a format google supports. (http://www.arnebrachhold.de/2005/06/...rator-v2-final) John previously mentioned the issue of stumbling your own articles and suggested not doing it, but not for technical reasons but because of flaming. But it does make sense that you can't "stumble" your own posts. The whole premise is, "Hey, I found this interesting page/site!" Scott has some advice on getting people to give feedback. Hasn't worked for me yet |

Well, it doesn't really even need to do that, if there is a set number of pages you can "stumble" from a given domain. We will, before too long, all hit that number on each of the other people's sites (assuming that we like their content). By the way, I have a new article if you care to read it: The Secret Of Killing Envy ------------------ A Miracle A Day - Intelligent Self Development Rising Darkness - An Online Novel |
