Hi, I am long time reader to this site and really impressed by amount of information shared here. And now I am in need of some help. I am very much positive that I'll really get some help from others who has solved the similar problem. I am in IT since last 9 years. I have collected a huge amount of knowledge and many tips/information/examples created to help my work. Currently it is stored either in word document or notepad in computer. It does not seem much organized and some times take time to search back. 1. What is the best way to organize this tons of information in various areas. Should I get some web based software (I am currently trying xWiki). ? Any suggestion what is the best software to organize(at this stage free is preferred ) ? 2. I am spending a lot of time to choose right software and that is taking longer time. So my question is how difficult it is to move from one software to another ? If this is not difficult then really I should peak the one that is better and later move to one that is best suitable. 3. I am not in to web technologies so it takes time for me to understand/install/configure web based software.I have access to UNIX server. So can I make my site offline and upload to real server once ready ? Thanks in advance for any reply to this.

one note is a product that gives what you want. all what you have to do is to know what you want if you want to write a to-do list or to classify your notes you can use their note flag feature for that ... you can even customize these note flags to call them what you want and to change their symbols for me i have (high priority tasks, low priority tasks, important meeting notes, questions to follow up with my manager, very important to read, books) copy and paste a sentence from a web page and the url is inserted automatically for you every better you can copy a word document file for example and paste it inside one note and one note will create a link for that document automatically for you. you can design your own templates (they call it stationeries). you can add your voice notes and you can convert the one note document to an outlook task by clicking a button I can go on and on with what you can do with it and what i would suggest is that you check the software first to get familiar with its features and if you want I can give you specific tips to utilize it based on your needs. I would be more than happy to do so

I really appreciate you sharing the idea about one note. I'll definitely get more details about that. However many times I have to travel and use different laptop at different places. So I am thinking of using some web based software so that its globally accessible. I read about few blog software but they don't exactly suffice the need of proper organization. I am wondering what other people do to organize there knowledge base ? Thanks
