In view that the forum may close down, I was wondering what are the ways to backup your threads. One way I can think of is save pages as MHT (there is a firefox extension for that.) Any other ideas?

If you use Firefox, this extension is very useful for this. https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/unmht/ |

Thank you, Cacheborne. I didn't have enough time for Technology and Technical Skills forum. Do you know any other forum like this? I want to publish a book online, but I have no idea where to go and what to start with. Planned to ask my questions here...

For writer of all levels there is a forum. It's quite huge, maybe even bigger than this one. But you will get lots of info there. Absolute Write Water Cooler - Powered by vBulletin |

Backstreet Browser (free!) allows you to download an entire site, or just sections of one. I've used it to download a few sites that I really enjoy but which I've thought might disappear from the net (so far, they haven't, but the web is ephemeral). BackStreet Browser - Offline Browser, Download Entire WebSite at High Speed! I wouldn't try to download the entire forum here, though, unless you've got unlimited and very fast bandwidth and a pretty grunty machine with a lot of open drive space. 1million+ posts is a lot of bandwidth and a lot of storage space! |
