Unhappy Adwords Cost

Traffic has become pretty danged expensive on Google Adwords. Anyone else notice that? Some low traffice keywords are going for $9. And other keywords, even when I don't see ads from my end, won't engage for less than a dollar. What happened to the .10 to .30 keywords? Long tails, ect?

Are you actually bidding for them in Adwords and paying those amounts? Or just looking them up in the Adwords keyword tool? Because the keyword tool estimate of cost per click is almost always drastically overestimated.

I've been bidding on some Facebook keywords, which seems to have NO advertisers on it, oddly enough, and ads aren't rendering because they are "below estimated front page bid" or something like that.

I was using to tool to dig in some other keywords, but simple stuff like "Cloud Computing" (well, I think that's simple) range from 8-10 dollars.
