Facebook timeline? Problem?
 

Is Facebook timeline something to be worried/concerned about? Privacy etc..


So, what do people think of the new timeline? Like it? Hate it? (Not everyone has it yet.)








---(--I guess it doesn't really matter to me because I deleted all my old posts. I like to keep stuff I need, but when I'm constantly thinking of looking back over my old posts/(emails too) it distracts me from the present moment more, and more time gets wasted. That's why I delete most of my posts.)

(I like to use facebook to out my beliefs somewhat, but I have Twitter, so honestly, if it wasn't for a couple friends who I don't always get to see and communication reasons, I probably wouldn't use facebook. Myspace is dead, btw.)

I just got FB timeline yesterday. I think it should be an option if you want it. In my case, timeline made certain things worse. But then again, maybe I manifested this so I could stop wasting time on FB all the time.

I am not going to put it unless FB gets tired and makes it essential for everyone.

Simple rules about privacy.
1. Don't put any material that you do not want to be disclosed online in the first place.
2. Use a separate browsers for FB and browsing other sites. FB also tracks you after you leave the site. Do not do any financial transactions in the same browser. Clear you cookies often.
3. Do not trust any of the companies be it FB, Google or anyone else.
4. Do not be fooled by the argument that it's a free service. Technically it is but not in the way you think. :)

Also, I think FB timeline is going to be mandatory for everyone, eventually.

It was the same when last time they changed the profile. I absolutely refused to change it despite being cajoled, warned, tempted by FB. It was funny, kind of like a cheesy salesman trying everyday to convince you.

Finally they bullied and changed it themselves. :d

I like it, I post a lot of pictures of my baby and the way it's set up the pictures are all nice and neat and quick to see when/what I posted, I also like the profile picture option up top.

I don't see any privacy issue.
Before the timeline I could also simply read someone's history if I wanted to understand the person better.

From what I can see, it's a layout change, not a content change.

I really like it! One of the better changes they have made, in my opinion.

I do have a couple friends who have issues with the fact that it makes your past much more easily searchable. A friend in particular who isn't out as trans to all his current fb friends and had back in his timeline to delete statuses in which he was referred to with female pronouns and names, photos where he didn't present as male, etc.

I don't understand how people are complaining about privacy? It uses the exact same information as the previous wall however it displays it in a more appealing way. I don't think the classic scary pedophile or stalker is going to ignore you because your facebook wall isn't pretty.

To clarify, switching to new profile does not raise any new privacy issues. The concerns remain the same which have been present in case of FB for some time now. Like there was an issue that they track you even when you are not logged in. FB claimed to have sorted that one out, but no guarantees that something new will not come up.

I just checked my hotmail, and I saw an ad with my profile picture. (The one from my Myspace.)

Seriously, if the ad companies start relying back my own pictures from data they've tracked, I'm tempted to run and hide..and be pissed off.
