Default Reducing time spent online

I've recently installed an application for Windows called Manic Time. It allowed me to see how I spend my time at the computer. No surprise, I waste a lot of my time online. It's the nature of the job that I have to surf the net, but as you all know, the internet is awfully good at distracting people. In fact most websites are designed in such a way, by providing "You might also like" types of links.
Perhaps someone can advise me on an application that functions based on a whitelist, which could prevent me from browsing around willy nilly (I find it hard to control this despite my best attempts to do so). The application would only allow access to a predefined list of websites (IE whitelist), and prevent access to websites that aren't on the list. It should also allow adding websites to that list (like for instance when I am browsing to Google news, I might need to add Reuters to the list of allowed websites, so that should be possible to do rather easily). I actually found an application like this some time ago except it wouldn't function properly, as it would block all the websites, even those that were present in the allowed list).

We all waist a lot of time while sitting behind our computers. It's good to hear that you want to do something about it.

And easy Google search will point you in the right direction, but after a quick look I think BrowseControl could be the right choise.

Some others:
- Safe Eyes
- Microsoft Parental Control
- ContentProtect
- CyberPatrol

I'm not sure, but I thought that OpenDNS also had something like a black/white list.

You're starting from the wrong end. It's like trying to reduce "darkness in the room", instead of turning on light switch.
Find an activity that would allow you to express your creativity and boost your emotions. Then it will naturally fill-in your time with joy and desire to do anything else will drop by itself.
