Do you have any recommended methods for learning? I did buy a book that I hope will help me with coding (basic knowledge)

The way I learn best is to physically be shown. I would be more than willing to pay someone to show me.
1. Download and install camtasia studio video recording software.
2. Find smart guy (like me ) who is not busy (not like me) and use free screen sharing program from Ammyy Admin - Free Remote Desktop Access, PC Remote Control Software and Remote Desktop Sharing
3. He will do everything for you in front of your eyes, you'll record everything as a movie for your future reference. You'll talk on the phone while it is happening.
4. Done.

From my own IT consulting experience with frustrated small business owners (tech wise), the BEST way is to have someone sitting next to you and guiding you if you're coming from square one, as you already observed. In your case, I recommend partnering with someone who has a technical edge. Try networking through a local SBA outreach in your area. ...or even see if they have a seminar. Those are usually free and geared toward the absolute beginner.

To keep stabbing at the tech level, anything w3.org is also free and a great resource for learning the nitty-gritty coding / debugging side. Also "A List Apart," for design fundamentals.

Take care,
Chad.

Or just spend 50 bucks and have someone set it up for you and you handle the site building.

$50 could handle wordpress install, configuring basics + permalinks + few plugins and putting site online. If more promised for that amount, I'd be a bit careful.

This actually sounds very appealing. Hard to decide. If I can find someone to do the initial set up, I might just go ahead and do it.

How should I go about finding someone? That is in my budget. I only need initial help.

I built a few business sites for clients and included self-recorded videos (recorded with sound as I go) for their use. People in non-tech areas really appreciated that - and it's cool way to learn exactly what you need to learn. That is if you'll manage to seduce someone to actually do it this way

I have so many ideas and directions I want to go. I also have Goddess of Hair, and I want to monetize and add a store (to both) I have another one for my coaching, it is hosted, but i am not actively working on it.

Ok, I have proposition for you.
I'll setup wordpress.org for you for free at your existing Hostgator account.
And you'll let me test my new wordpress plugin on your site - it allows you to add cute looking "badge" with pictures. I think you'll love it (you dont have to use it if you don't) but I need someone's site to test it on that has existing posts with pictures.

That's what I was implying (I should have stated that), but thanks for insulting me twice... I wouldn't charge 50 for clicking 3 buttons

Tarot site doesn't look bad at all. The stats plugin brought the load to a grinding halt though! Check into that. And take the FaceBook badge out of the Footer, it will render better. Just leave the link to find you on FB.

Not a bad initial setup though!

Also, since you're using a template that puts the three most recent posts in columns, set a standard word length for excerpts and use the excerpt function in your post editor. You have one post that is drastically longer than the other two, so it is dragging that whole section of the page down, which loses the eye flow to comments on the other two posts.

Hah. I know how that feels!
If you have another content management account for your WP blog, pass it to me, I'll log in there and clean some stuff up. Mainly the two items I address above. I'll take a Tarot reading in exchange ;p
