Default StumbleUpon, Facebook, or StevePavlina.com???

I've just noticed in my browser's status bar while trying to load up this forum that the first thing that's done, apparently, is some kind of call to StumbleUpon, and then Facebook, and who knows what else...is this what happens when a site is linked to those social media services??

Took a few seconds more to load (that is, get here), which is no big deal, but apropos of recent concerns about how these forums are loading for some people, well, that got me wondering whether Facebook & co. has an impact on a site's loading times and who knows what else...so any insight into all this is much appreciated!!

Everything on a page when you visit it does impact the load time. If it is actual data on the same server the time will be reduced, however I would imagine every time the page loading has to look for information on another server (Facebook, Google, Twitter, StumbleUpon) it will take additional time.

You can see the logo for each of the above named sites to the left under the newsletter sub form each of these will go and look for the information that it is showing and load as part of the page loading.

How much this affects the load time I do not know but i imagine it will tosome extent.
