Default Saturn's rings make music.

This is beautiful. They ask the question, "How is it possible"? What are your thoughts as this is quite remarkable.

Saturn rings make music.

Whoever made that video added a lot of music to it. That's not what the rings are actually doing. The "ring music" is in there, but not until you get more than a minute in.

Here's the file from NASA: http://saturn.jpl.nasa.gov/multimedi...967-072504.wav

I think it sounds quite weird, personally, and not very euphonious, but it is indeed remarkable.

Exactly.

I had trouble telling when the ring music actually was being played? It's crazy stuff though. I've had friends make sounds like this on their synthesizers.

It sort of sounds like the music my brother makes and performs. This confirms my suspicions that he is from another planet.

It is sort of interesting how the producers of this video felt the need to add their own music to the video. I wonder why they felt the need to do that? May be because the 'music' would be too alienating to attract attention otherwise.

Here is a funny story though: I was helping my brother write a grant proposal to the government of Canada and the granting agency ended up sending him back his recording claiming, 'Something really went wrong with your recordings'.

haha...you and me both, though my brothers music doesn't sound like this.

I'm thinking they wanted to get a bit of free advertising, but it detracted from the whole focus of the link, which I found a bit confusing.

Must be pretty out there. Government people aren't usually the most 'progressive' types.

Wait.... I was under the impression that they slowed down the wave length from the actual recordings and that is how the music came about? Is that not so?

Nope. That pretty filler is just typical earthly "New Age" type music. The weird whooshy stuff is from the rings, and that's a very short clip, only a few seconds. The person making the video apparently increased the music to 12 tones (not sure what that means) and played it again (later in the video), and is claiming that the edited version sounds like speech patterns.

The actual "ring music," in that video, starts at 1:25. The edited version starts at 2:11. The rest is all just filler music.
