Hi Everyone! I see lots of services like Amazon S3, PulleyApp.com, PayLoadz.com, and more offering to store people's digital files for them, files that they sell such as eBooks, .mp3 music files and so forth. But I don't understand the need for such services...why not just store those files on one's own site?? Many webhosts now offer unlimited storage and bandwidth so I really don't get it...is it maybe something to do with better security? Maybe folks simply don't want to deal with any potential administrative hassles due to customer relations?? TIA! |

Amazon S3 and others are for well-funded start-ups and high traffic websites. Nobody is going to give away unlimited bandwidth to companies who are actually able to use it. The large majority of people who get shared web hosting never actually get to use those unlimited resources. But they still advertise it as such. It's called marketing | |
