Question "Server connection reset" increasing

Hi there,
That "Server connection reset" has been happening
with increasing frequency the past 3 days. -
Aside the fact that we end up either with that page, or
inside a thread with a BLANK-page, what does either mean?

My apologies in advance, that Adam & Eve prolly knew more about computers

What are you referring to? This site, your site, every site, more info is needed... it helps to be as informative as possible when asking for assistance. Even if you don't know what to ask, describe the situation.

This site only.

(If it was another site, I would probably ask them.)

I didn't ask on the 1st. two days, as I thought
maybe that East-coast storm was causing it. - Yesterday,
after posting this question, it seemed to clear up on its own, mysteriously. Thank you for caring to ask. Enjoy a wonderful day!

No prob, sometimes it's hard to tell what people are asking, ya know?

Anyway, Steve has mentioned a little bit ago about tweaking this site for performance issues, so it may also have something to do with that also...

Hi Chris,
This isn't a Server-issue; but rather than start a new thread
for each question, may I just add them here?
This question is about Space:
Fatal error
: Allowed memory size of 33554432 bytes exhausted
(tried to allocate 22107 bytes) in /home/pavlina/public_html/forums/showthread.php on line
1273
it happens on very LONG threads. Do you know how to resolve that problem?

It still sounds like a server memory issue. Unfortunately I don't have that kind of access but I will report your post to notify Steve. He may already be aware of the issue. Can you provide a link to a thread(s) that you experience the issue on? I'd like to test it for myself and Steve will find the info helpful for trouble shooting...

Hi Chris,
This came from one of your own threads: The Next Poster
Fatal error:
Allowed memory size of 33554432 bytes exhausted
(tried to allocate 22317 bytes) in /home/pavlina/public_html/forums/showthread.php on line 1273

I believe that earlier one came from here: Say something nice to the person above you game!
Fatal error:
Allowed memory size of 33554432 bytes exhausted
(tried to allocate 22254 bytes) in /home/pavlina/public_html/forums/showthread.php on line 1273

There's 3 others right off the bat, but one thing I've noticed, is that
the Error-message, on each of them, reads pretty much the SAME. - Is that by Design?
.

"Operating System" = Windows (XP? Vista? 7?), or Mac OS(X), or Linux... or something... whatever your computer boots up into when you turn it on.

This is mostly a serverside issue I think.

33 554 432 byte = 32 megabyte

The showthread.php script uses more memory than the 32 megabyte it is allowed to use.

This could be solved by increasing the memory limit in the php.ini file

memory_limit = 64M ;

like that,

or could be solved by putting

ini_set('memory_limit', '64M');

in the script that needs the bigger memory limit.

One word of caution, raising the memory limit on a high traffic site could result in longer waiting times for other users. (the more memory used by each request, the less requests can be handled at the same time).

Steve is looking into the issue. He updated his plugins to wordpress, one of which seems to have a bug that caused load spikes to go up 100 fold. He's been looking into it to figure out which one.

Question

Calling all Techies

Today I got that "Server connection Reset" Notice over 30 times.
And
then I Noticed hangups in the lower-left corner of the window, "waiting for -
platformTwitter.com or
plusOneGoogle.com or
Stumbleupon.com"

I don't know if knowing these things, helps Steve.
