Default Fashion retail site and google cache help?

Hi, I created this site for a great client so any feedback on it would be appreciated. I'm still polishing it and working in some basic SEO but its basically there. Minimal black and white aesthetic was the goal, the font set up is still being revised.

homme

Also google has an old cache of the site so I did some google searching and someone mentioned an easy way to update it is to have a new spike of click throughs, so any of you who visit to give me design feedback might also be able to help me out here.

Hello Andrew! I agree with CoolBee that it's clean. Which is great!
There are definitely aspects of this design that I think are well-executed, but I'm choosing to give you feedback that might help you improve the design...
  • I think it's boring & unexciting & empty. A fashion retail website has a great potential to be exciting.
  • The design seems to be very 'loose' & lacks structure. Especially your product pages.
  • Why didn't you use the images of shirts with a guy in them on your Homme page? You have those images on product pages. Loosely hanging shirts don't look very appealing.
  • There should be a visual indicator in your navigation menu for a page that that is currently active.
  • There should be a Product page link in your navigation menu. The navigation is confusing right now. If your user navigates to another page it is not obvious how to move back to product page using the navigation menu.
  • Do you really three different pages(Details, History, & Designer) for a single page that could be labelled "About" or "The Designer".
  • And do you need a contact page when all you have is an email address.
  • Why did you choose to spell Homme like that?
  • You used tables for layout! That's a design sin! Use div containers & CSS instead. You'll run into countless issues using tables for layout. Tables are for tabular data Only.
  • I think the main issue here is that this website is not user-centered. Your website is a case of homepage-centered design. It means that you designed the entire website around your homepage & navigation menu. A more sensible approach would be to design it around user-processes & user-expectations.

I don't mean to sound like Simon Cowell! I'm just telling you what I honestly think about the design. But it's only my opinion of course, and I don't know if you had any reasons for making certain design decisions. You are a talented designer & illustrator but web designing is a whole different beast!

Hope this helps.

Thanks! Sorry for the late reply but that is very helpful info.

Sadly I don't have much creative control, a lot of stuff mentioned I cant really change but there are things here and there that I am working on implementing and discussing with the owner.
