Avatars are nice for helping to distinguish one person from another. Sure, you can remember their text in their signature or read their name, but an avatar allows just a quick glance to see who's who.

Not too many voters makes it seem like most posters aren't interested in avatar icons being part of this forum. The ones that voted mostly are those in favor of them, those against couldn't care less about making a vote in this poll. |

It just seems like it's not a very active poll. If there were more votes I might think the results as more accurate, or representing what the results would be if the whole member based voted. And maybe there's no way to make a conclusion that the poll is squewed but there are lots of members that aren't looking for this poll except maybe those from the original thread about avatars -which was mostly pro avatars. I think posters have skipped voting either because they don't care either way, or the are ok with the forum as is and don't feel a need to stick up for something that already is the way they like it. I also think most posters are ok without the avatars, so I'm biased and think the poll is not showing the real complete or representative sampling of member based thoughts. |

I love avatars. I can more quickly identify posters and it gives them a unique character. But I understand if it bugs some people. Even if this poll hasn't been very active or representative, why not just allow users to turn avatars off? Then everybody gets to pick what they prefer. |
