| https://plus.google.com/ Check that out. It's basically Facebook but different, with Circles which you can limit who gets what and a video chat interface in which people from your Circles can join. It's called Hangout. EDIT: I discovered I don't have anymore invites. Sorry. Love, Andrew Last edited by st33med; 06-30-2011 at 03:47 AM. |

I like this though. It's faster and I feel like even safer. I found out the reason for no invites is because they had to stop for there were too many invites being sent out. I only sent out 3. :\

| Circles for one. You can share something with a certain group of people instead of everyone else. Example, your boss doesn't have to know about some crazy party. There is also Huddles where people can join in the chat at anytime if they are in the circle you specify and video chat is also capable. You can completely remove all data from Google via Google Takeout and all data will be archived, removed, and given to you. Circles is a big plus. There are stuff that I wish to share with forum people but not with others. |

One advantage could be that you could collect information from all other Google platforms and share it (Gmail/buzz/youtube etc.)

I think that's a good thing. One thing that is notable is that G+ is faster. Of course, it doesn't have a huge load on it yet, so take my tests with a grain of salt.

I for one would like to try this out, it looks interesting. It's funny because I totally didn't care for google buzz when it came out, and I didn't even try it. Now I'm more tired of facebook and would like an alternative to exist. So if anyone has invites to give out, I'd gladly take one. Quote:
On a somewhat related note, News group finally sold Myspace away this week. News group had bought Myspace for $580 million some years ago from the founders of Myspace, and only managed to sell it for $35 million this week to an advertising group.

| If it can do better with privacy that'll be all I need to switch. It would be genius if they could integrate the two. Facebookers could add G+ users and vice versa. Probably be a cold day in hell before that happens, though.

Seriously, though, I would hope that Google learned a few things from the Orkut experiment, but the bottom line is, I don't like social networking that much ANYway, so whatever Google has up their sleeve would have to be pretty damned spectacular for me to be at all interested. I liked Orkut... for a while....

Actually I discovered I can send invites. Send me a PM of your GMail account (or regular email, but you will have to setup a gmail account. Don't worry, it's fast to setup). You'll get a message about me testing invites, and you will have a chance to accept an invite. |

I was one of the first people to have Gmail as well, and I've loved it! I liked Orkut as well, until it became all portugese What I like about Google+ that I've seen so far is that you can let people know where you are and you want to hang out in real life, and people can find you in real life (those circles you want too let know of course). Orkut was more of a forum then a social network. Social networks have evolved and I love how google is willing to continue to experiment and try out new things to help us create better lifes! (Yes; I know it is for the money. I prefer my version though

1. Orkut is surprisingly successful. It's just that it's successful in Brazil and India. 2. The invitation system is being throttled on a time-basis. You have an infinite supply of invites, but Google will turn off joining every now and then. As of immediately right now, invites are on. I figure they'll be gone again sometime tonight. 3. The main and only draw for me is Google+ Hangouts. 4. The best article I've found about it is the Wired one: Inside Google+ — How the Search Giant Plans to Go Social | Epicenter| Wired.com |

They have had a few false starts, but sooner or later they'll get it right. They seem to have the problem of practically limitless capabilities, and not enough sense to leave some stuff out. I think wave would have been a success story if they hadn't been so overambitious with it. One thing they have that Facebook has been struggling with for a long time is solid experience with spam control. |

I'm just kinda over the whole social networking thing, personally. I've been participating in one or another as they evolved and it's just kind of much of a muchness to me now. Like I said, unless Google can really present something awesomely useful, I don't really care enough to join Yet Another Social Networking Site.
