Default Wednesday I´m No. 1 in Google - Thursday I´m nowhere to be seen

I checked the ranking on one of my websites on Wednesday 21 April and for one keyword it ranked number 1 in google.

I checked the next day and it was nowhere to be seen. I checked all my other keywords that also ranked reasonably highly and they were also nowhere to be found.

Any ideas why this is? I know Google did some major changes to there algorythms a while back but why would my site suddenly disappear now.

Anyone got any ideas?

Thanks
Nigel

Your site can be removed from searches if Google for some reason classifies it as spam or dangerous (e.g. attempts to infects users machines with a virus). If it's your Law of Attraction site, I can't see any reason they would do this. Possibly the site has been hacked and someone has uploaded pages or insterted links into your code, but at a quick glance I can't spot anything wrong.

You're using Google analytics, so check the Google webmaster tools, and see if you can get any wiser. They have a tool that lets you know if they've detected any malware on your site. It can also give you details on what keywords are being used and more.

If all else fails, you can always try contacting Google, but I'm not sure how well that works.

Hi Ragtag,

Thanks for the reply, no it wasn´t my law of attraction site as it happens but another site I own.

I am beginning to think I might have been hacked into as I noticed someone has used the exact same url as me but with an x on the end and even copied some of my pages.

I´ve checked google webtools and it doesn´t show any malware or anything like that so I´m in a bit of a fix to be honest.

thanks anyway

Are you sure you weren't logged into gmail, google analytics or any other google tools? Being logged into Google can inflate your rankings of your sites while logged in. Check that first.

Google is a fickle beast, as are most search engines. It changes all the time, so you have to keep up with what gets your posts/keywords at #1 or top ten, or whatever you're aiming for. Google rules the Internet, so it helps to know how they operate.

Google completely took me off their top search results recently after ranking very highly for 3 years...

It's not just you.

I sympathise. Yesterday I was at the top of Google for some of my article posts and today they are nowhere to be seen. This seems to happen a lot with Google.

My blog stats constantly go up and down and it's normally due to Google liking my blog and then suddenly not liking it! It seems daft how it can change so drastically - small shifts would be easier to deal with than a sudden change.

I guess it's not a great idea to rely on Search Engine traffic. I've been trying to build up followings by email and twitter to ride-out the times when Google seems to shun me. Can't beat Google - so have to work around it!

I´ve seen the same thing with two of my sites. It´s so annoying!

I´ve just read an article on hubpages about the Google Panda changes. It seems to have been a good idea but it has turned out hitting the very sites it was supposed to help.

This fella on the hubpages has hit the nail right on the head as far as I am concerned, Google have gotten too big for their boots.

He´s come up with a way of knocking them back to size too.

They don´t care about the little fella anymore.

Take a look at the article Tame the Google Panda

It makes sense to me.
