I did a lot of research myself about these products which Iam planning to buy. And to be honest, Iam really overwhelmed and confused reading countless articles and the comments below them. I find both of these to be really good products that has its own advantages and limitations. My requirements are these: Reading books(in PDF) Wi-fi version only Watching videos online(Youtube, etc) Watching movies(avi format,mp4) Even though Apple does not have some of these features, there are lots of applications to support it.Galaxy tab has built in support for all of these. Do you use any of these products? If so, what is your experience using it? |

If I were to get any of those I would get the Galaxy tab, mostly because I don't like Apple products. I'm sure they're both fine but I prefer the flexibility of Android. It really depends on what you like to do with your tech; if you like to tinker for obscure features, Android is the way to go. If you like streamlined and user-friendly functionality, Apple. I have never used a tab although I have an Android phone which is very close already to a tab (this is also why I will not be using the current generation of tabs). It is exclusively my book-reading device and it's perfect for that. I love it simply because it's changed the way I read. There are in-built applications for it or third-party ones (the Adobe one is very nice). I also use it for comic book reading (also wonderful). As for videos, that's something I haven't used much, but from what I've seen it's pretty smooth and good quality. On a larger screen it would be pretty cool, so I guess the iPad is better for you since it has a larger screen? EDIT: By the way, Apple generally does not contain those features out-of-the-box because you are expected to download the official applications as needed. For all intents and purposes, they come with those features. Last edited by Alstar; 04-24-2011 at 08:36 AM. |

I've used both quite a bit and I've found the iPad is a far more refined experience. There's more apps (not just in # but in quality too) to start off with and the system itself is so smooth and elegant. The Galaxy Tab that I've used (a colleague's) was clunky (physically and the OS), heavy and not "a joy" to use like the iPad is.
