Default audio and workbook download after payment

Hi,

I have been thinking and thinking and I cannot come up with a secure way to do this..

I'm creating a program now (how to listen to your unconscious mind) which will consist of a audio program of most likely 5 chapters, each about 30 minutes long and a PDF workbook.

I could use awebber to email it to customers after they bought it, but I'm thinking that it might be too heavy for email, especially since the audio programs will be separate files.

Is there any secure way I could lead people to a web page from where they can download the program? This webpage would have to be secure so that people who haven't paid, cannot just get the URL from their friends to download it (or have it show up on google or anything like that ).

I use hosting and wordpress.org.

Any help greatly appreciated!!

E-Junkie would probably be your best bet. You can upload files to their server for people to download. I don't believe they attach it to email.

Another possibility is to create a User-only section of your site that includes the links to download, and only allows them to download if they have a valid username in your system. This would require extra technical setup though, so it's probably worth just paying $5/month for E-Junkie to do it. They handle payment too.

Looks like you got a good answer, as long as they don't email the files.

If you just have a page for your downloads, you might consider changing the url after each customer has downloaded his or her files. Do you anticipate lots of traffic on the page? If so, that probably wouldn't work, because you'd have more than one customer in any day trying to download?

You could password protect the page, then change the password every few days? That's probably more trouble than it's worth. I don't know. Maybe a cookie on your site for each customer? I've got a reasonably secure password design at my site, QWERTYPORTNE. Click "Web Design Tutorial" on my front page, then click "6-MORE" and then "Passwords" or go here... Phone Dialer type of Password Protection If you need help setting it up to your requirements, contact me at gpsbilly@sbcglobal.net

There is a wordpress plug-in called WP e-Commerce Plugin that has the feature you're looking for. Now, I will state that this plug-in is kind of hokey to work with (it's a free plug-in & sometimes they aren't the best to work with). I put it on REI's site for an e-book she sells, it's not the best plug-in, but if you find you're making sales, you could invest in a paid plug-in that is better coded...

I use an ecommerce web application that allows you to do exactly that.

Of course you can't stop people from sharing their passwords with others.

You can get 90 days free with e-junkie using a promo code (Google: e-junkie promo code). I'm happy with it. This will buy you some more time to get it selling.

I wouldn't worry about security too much in the short term or possibly at all. If people are going to share it, they'll do so by some other means, plus the demographic for your product doesn't strike me as being likely to start pirating it anyway.
