Default Secure Payments

I would like to ask when it is necessary or at least advisable to purchase a private SSL when one has a Paypal payment button on the website for the clients to purchase goods or services through the website. Thanks.

Default Not sure

Why don't you call GoDaddy.com or your current host provider and ask them. They should be able to tell you the pros and cons. They're your best source for information.

Depends entirely on how you set up Paypal. If you are using Paypal Standard, where the client clicks on the Paypal button and is taken to the Paypal payment page from your site, then you don't need an SSL cert.

If on the other hand your site has Paypal integrated where people enter their payment information on your web form, then absolutely, you need to have an SSL cert.

Thanks a lot for your replies. I have taken your advice, LostMyMap - the clients will be taken to the PayPal payment page from my site.

Paypal charges transaction fees. If you had your own system, you wouldn't have to pay those fees.
