Cool "Next Gen" Gaming

What do you guys think of the "next generation" of gaming.

Although its not in full swing yet, because all consoles are not released yet.

I think the graphics look sweet.

The consoles i'm talking about were: Xbox360, Wii, and PS3.

Can't wait to see what the games will look like and a year or so.

I believe it is spelled "gaming" and not "gamming". *Coughs* Anyway... What do I think? I've always been a Nintendo fanboy, so most probably my answer would be highly biased, regardless, I think Wii has all the advantages this generation. We have the controller (=gameplay), and we have the games (=quality). There is nothing more to ask for. The X360 and PS3 just doesn't seem interesting enough for me, granted they have some good titles, but not enough to make me consider them. They lack so many great things that the Wii has (the awesome controller, the awesome titles, the backwards gamecompatibility (correct word?)). I could go on forever, but I will choose not to.

Anticipating Nintendo fanboy here too.
When I saw the new video footage of The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, I thought (after geeking out, of course): "Damn it, I'm going to waste a lot of time on this..."
The Wii is the only one that is of interest to me, as it seems to have the highest innovation and fun ratios, and not just sweet graphics. (Though I'd like to get my hands on Final Fantasy XIII when it comes out.. It looks awesome.)

Personally, I'm looking forward to the new game consoles. I'll likely buy a PS3 shortly after it comes out. Buying a PS3 is a MUCH cheaper way to get a cell processor than going with an 11k board from Mercury Systems.
Cell processor: 170+ GFLOPs.
P4 Xeon 3.8Ghz: 8 GFLOPs.

Hmm.... and 600 bucks for the cell, well over 1k for the Xeon... I think I'll take a Cell, Bob.

Oops, not the best speller.

The wii is pretty cool, its got the cool controller, and I think graphics will only go so far. Gaming ( ) success will probably equal, game play and storyline in the future.

Although for now, the graphical improvement seems quite amazing.

PS3! Although their marketing, campaign, prices, etc. get a big thumbs down

I love fighting games esp. Tekken, Street Fighter, Soul Calibur, etc. so that's why I'm leaning on PS3.

The Nintendo Wii.

Gameplay is far superior to graphics.

This video will explain it all.

Default wii like it

I'm going to get the wii. So I can play with my daughter (5).
I've really gotten out of all but a few games.

The last game I really, really like was Grand Theft Auto. But I just can't play it anymore... its a little too much.

Normally my order of preference is Sony, then Nintendo, with the X-box way, way behind, mostly due to the type of games I prefer. It's pretty close between Sony and Nintendo, really. Nintendo has always been in my household, and is pretty much a given.

This time, though, Sony has really killed themselves in my eyes. I have almost no interest in an X-box, but I'd rather get one of those than the PS3. At least they have a controller I can plug into my computer.

Really looking forward to Smash Bros. & Twilight Princess. If I could only get one, it'd be the Wii.

To me it's all about WHICH games are going to be on WHICH consoles...

Except Wii, while I am looking forward to a lot of their famous franchises I am really excited to see what the Wii-mote can do... well I guess I already know since I have seen so many Wii-mote demos for Zelda, Red Steel and what not...

Games I'm looking forward to:
Wii: Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess
Any Mario Series Game
Super Smash Bros. Brawl!!!
Red Steel

Playstation 3:
METAL GEAR SOLID 4: GUNS OF THE PATRIOTS (Yes call me a Hideo Kojima fanboy, it's all about Cyborg Raiden)
Final Fantasy XIII/Future Final Fantasy Installments
Future Kingdom Hearts Installments (PLEASE localize KH2 Final Mix)
Ninja Gaiden SIGMA

Xbox 360:
Uhh... sorry not a XBOX fan XD

Also Assassin's Creed.. but I think that's cross-platform and/or coming to PC...

Talk about games and you can see my glee kiddy side... I'm so embarassed...

Btw has anyone played FF12 yet? Looks really cool but I refuse to buy/play it until fall quarter is over at my school... otherwise I can see my grades go down the drain...

I think they all have some great stuff, though the PS3 is faaar behind. There probably wont be anything to make the pricetag worth it until the end of 2007.

The Xbox 360 has a lot going for it with stuff out already, including Gears of War which comes out today, BioShock, Mass Effect, ShadowRun and others.

The Wii is my favorite though. Downplaying graphics, and playing up the essence of what videogames are. I cant wait for the franchises, as well as console counterparts to DS games, and all the new stuff they are going to come up with!

Well said Boris!

When there are already beautifull, playable, regularly updated, dynamic, interactive and down right fun games such as Eve Online for the PC - who needs a dedicated console (even if it has more flops ;-) ).

But what do I know, the last console I bought was the Commodore CD32, about a week before Commodore went bust!

Being a console fan rather than a PC gamer i still don't seem much interesting stuff coming with the next generation. The Wii control looks interesting but i doubt that the new Zelda,Metroid and Super Mario will be different to the Gamecube versions in terms of gameplay.

I'm amazed people still look to the graphics when they talk about next-generation. Am I growing old? Or just visually impaired?

I already have an XBOX 360, and the holiday season will strengthen the amount of good games. The XBL Arcade is a great system with some surprisingly addictive little games like Geometry Wars and Uno. With Gears of War launching, a new Splinter Cell and Rainbow Six, and F.E.A.R and Call of Duty 3 which my PC cannot run, and Battlefield 2 which has amazing multiplayer.

My thoughts on the PS3 is that is will not be worth owning until MGS4, of course there are rumors that it might get ported to 360 which would be awesome. I really hoping the tables stay balanced and Sony loses a little and Nintendo gains a little. Strong competition means a continued habit of good dame design.

Wii has a very strong first party lineup, but unfortunately I don't think it will have the third party support it needs until well into 07, if ever. Gamecube had almost no third party support - with the exception of Resident Evil 4, and instant classic.

So I'll be sticking with my 360 and widescreen HDTV for good online games and PC ports. Wii is my second choice for Zelda alone. Currently I'm fighting my way through expert mode on Guitar Hero 2 which is incredible and addicting. Any other GH players here?
